Had a great dinner. They provided lots of extras, including chocolate eggs for our kids(as it was Saturday before Easter). We had a great veal Milanese and a flavorful risotto with seafood. The wine was well priced and the entire atmosphere was happy and relaxed. Exactly what we needed after a marathon day of touring Milan.

Ate there at the recommendation of the desk staff at Hotel Canada, an excellent 3 star hotel nearby. Don’t be fooled by the exterior. ‘Ristorante’ in a simple blue sign hides a gem. Inside an expansive space matched by the attentive staff and big menu. Seafood, pasta, mains, dessert. Lots of locals and a real family atmosphere while retaining a proud sophistication. My wife had the lobster linguine(19 euro). I had the house bolognese(9 euro). We shared a chianti. Dessert and grappa to top off an excellent meal(62 euro). You won’t be disappointed.

The restaurant is great for cooked or raw ham. They also serve pasta and pizza. If you will order pizza, remember that one pizza can mostly serve two persons. The only complain is to order to serve the food. Starter was served after pizza was on the table. We ended up not finishing our starter, which probably is the best part of our order. After the meal, they will serve fruit, cookie, and peanut. This quite surprised us. In particular, the peanut is the best one beside the peanut at my home country, Taiwan. Again, why don’t they serve peanut when we arrive? It’s a perfect finger food for beer.

Together with some friends we wanted to go for this place(our friends knew this place already). Although they knew the place, it takes some time to find the place, it is well hidden from the main street :) Coming in, it was very busy with a lot of locals(typically a sign that it is a good place :)) The food we had was delicious and the price/quality ratio was very good here: You get a lot of great food for a very decent price!

This place is a hidden gem, very exotic high end food cooked table side or as simple as a fruit salad. We actually came back the next night because we liked the atmosphere and the food. First night was a pizza, second night was a carbonara. Both were great and highly recommended, someone else got a steak that was served table side and steaming hot, looked and smelled amazing. Also the prosciutto is cut to order right off the dried pig leg at the entrance of the location.

We were on an extended European vacation and had purposely not made any hotel or other reservations giving us the freedom to roam as we felt the urge at the time. This was the first real restaurant we ate at after two weeks on a trans-Atlantic cruise and even though we had been well and pleasantly fed, we were ready for something of a much smaller scale. We were walking the streets of Milano looking for a place to have some lunch. Being a Monday holiday we weren’t having much luck until I saw a sign hanging from the Bus sign pointing the way to L’isola del Tesoro. Not much English spoken here which is fine by me… I don’t expect anyone to speak my languages in a foreign country… but we warmly greeted by two waiters who directed us to our table. We can both read an Italian menu so no problem there. We never lacked for service or attention when needed. The food was fabulous, I saw a gentleman eating something that looked interesting and just ordered what he was having and wound up with a delightful dish of baby artichokes and beef in a rich meaty sauce. With friendly service, comfortable surroundings, an unhurried atmosphere, and great food L’Isola del Tesoro is all thumbs up for us. So good we wound up there for dinner on the same day and that confirmed the rating.

Visited restaurant on a busy Sunday — pranzo time. The restaurant is located in a small street — quite difficult to find if you dont know the place. The place was very busy with Italian families celebrating their Sunday lunch, but fortunately the waiter quickly found a table for 4 of us. We started with antipasti — insalata caprese and mixed seafood platter. Insalata caprese looked very poor — price quality wise, especially when compared to the size and taste of mixed seafood platter my friends got. As a main I had pasta al ragu — it was ok, but a bit dry and lacking of taste I would expect in the pasta sauce. My husband had a pizza that looked and tasted absolutely delicious… I would definitely go to this place again and order some seafood antipasti and primi or secondi, as those looked great on other tables. Make sure that you get some thin crisp potato chips to accompany your dish:)

The owners are sardinian(‘sardi’) and you can tell — everything from the cuisine to the slang is ‘sardo’. The place is a Cagliari soccer team fan club and the walls are covered with jerseys from famous players. The cuisine is excellent — best plates are obviously seafood: the most famous dish is the spaghetti al cartoccio. Ask for the catch of the day — pescato del giorno. Another great plate is the elephant-ear veal cutlet à la milanese w/chips: maybe the best chips in town. Pizzas are good and desserts wonderful. Prices are slightly high related to food and service. The best bet is lunch with piatto del giorno + drink + dessert + caffè at 11 €. Owners also manage closeby Manhattan restaurant behind the corner, usually if one is closed the other is open. They’re also open for late service after theatre.
