The name says it all. It’s a Motta Autogrill, not just a Motta, which used to be a Milanese institution. But while the brand has gone mainstream, the quality is still fairly high. Not excellent but definitely good. The best reason to stop by is to kill time waiting for a train, in which case you’ll certainly enjoy the classy tearoom. It’s a welcome break from it all, you feel immediately more bourgeois as soon as you take a seat. Prices are obviously higher than at the counts but in line with Panzera right in front, a strikingly close offering in terms of selection and ambiance. I usually come over for an early breakfast, where you can enjoy a clever take on filled croissants. My favorite, in general but also here, is the custard tart(tortina della nonna), a moderately expensive treat that makes your cappuccino even tastier. I also take some biscuits to go before a long flight, for a necessary dose of cookie dough and chocolate across the ocean. Why not!
