the cheap food prices can be a bit deceiving since they have a per person service charge of like 2.5÷3 euro. just really wish they wouldn’t go the cheap price + service charge route. the random service charges all over Italy can drive tourists nuts. bread is included in this charge but they don’t offer or bring it to you unless you asked, in my case. the famous dish of spaghetti sardines was actually quite good and unique. worth giving it a try. wine is cheap. sadly, when asked for tap water I was told no.

Seriously, how do you beat six euro pasta that’s THIS tasty? I wanted to try Sicilian food and having passed by this restaurant a few nights in a row, decided to stop in for lunch before jetting off the next day. It was SO good the first sentence out of my mouth was«OMG this pasta is Freakin amazing!!!» Repeated a couple times, and at the end of the night, decided to trade in on a fancy Tuscan dinner just so I can get takeout from this place again. Yeah, THAT good. The bucatini chi Sardi(spaghetti with bread crumbs and anchovies) this is definitely the dish that had me fall in love with this place. I now understand why the Italians love sardines, and now I have the difficult task of trying to replicate it or find it back in the states. The rustichilli chi cozzi, spaghetti with mussels and tomato is very good as well. The calzone is nothing like what you get in the states — fluffy filled dough so fragrant and tasty it tastes like they fried up a cheese and meat filled donut and called it a calzone. Then there’s the arancina. Not quite as good as the cheese ragu one I has in Florence but it’s meat and veggie ragu filled and quite tasty still. Wine — great deal as you get a small caraf instead of a glass for € 3.50 They charge a service charge per person so if you’re in a hurry, take out is the way to go — otherwise it’s a fun place to sit and enjoy the casual rustic ambiance in the heart of Milan.

and cheers to my first Sicilian meal ever /as well as my first official dinner out in Milan. Pretty happening from the looks of it so we decided to walk in and check it out. Not sure what message the waitresses are trying to send but the uniform is a black t-shirt with a white silhouette of rifle over the shoulder. Is that a Sicilian thing? As for the food, we tried the bucatini with sardines and the anneletti pasta dishes, along with the appetizer sampler to start. A half liter of house wine as well. The bucatini was the highlight for me, full of sardine flavor. Also had these delicious little raisins. The anneletti isn’t a popular pasta dish in NY so that was a first for me as well. Unfortunately, reminded me a bit of spaghetti-Os.
