I had an ok dinner here while in Milan. It was good, not great. My mushroom risotto was very delicious. Steak was okay — meat is just not as fresh or as tender as what I can get here in LA. Totally overpriced and over-hyped in my opinion. In addition, they made a mistake in my order and when corrected, charged me for the mistake. Very bad practice indeed. Good service, but very stiff and uncomfortable atmosphere. They certainly aren’t doing anything special here. Skip this place unless you happen to be staying at a hotel that is very near.

Ribot has exceptional service. And while they have the Menu in both Italian and English, I didn’t sence the gotcha attitude of restaurants in downtown Milan at all. We had a group do 8 and the service was amazing. Complementary little glass of sparkling white to start. Huge wine list. Dessert and limoncello & grappa also included. We must have gone through 5 – 8 bottles of mineral water but were only charged for 2. The antipasto buffet at $ 14 euros was a steal. Perhaps 6 – 8 different cured meats. Gads of vegetables including broccolini, artichokes, etc. huge wheel of parmigiana. I’d say the prices were pretty good when compared to a big US city like Chicago or Sam Francisco, of not more reasonable. Our bill all totaled was under $ 500 Euro. This included a bottle of wine and a number of beers for 8 people. I had a single serving steak, but a couple of people in our group ordered the steaks for two… Wow-za! High quality steaks simply and deliciously prepared. Eating at Ribot is a production. It’s easily a three hour affair and worth the time and money spent.

Most excellent restaurant, in an unsuspected area, with delicious meat, risotto, carpaccio, but the only dessert is a chocolate fondue with fruit. great wine too

It’s always nice when you’re taken out to dinner by a local. I was in Milan for business recently and have a long work day, it was nice not to think about what I had to eat later that evening. The back story we got from our colleagues was that it’s near the horse races and you see all sorts of pictures associated with it. I thought it was kinda funny having such a horse themed steak restaurant. Clearly the Tesco scandal wouldn’t have had much of an impact in Italy! I ordered the prosciutto to start — it was thicker than expected but still really really good. I had a bit of my colleague’s culatello and that is definitely the thing to get. I’m not sure what exactly we ordered but for the 4 of us, ordered 2 different meat dishes. I think one was the fillet which was AMAZING. Sliced and perfectly cooked. It came with potatoes and spinach on a hot plate. The 2nd was more thinly sliced with a bit of herbs in more of a paella type pan. The meat was on top of a series of vegetables like green onion, peppers, huge chunks of potatoes. Really amazing food. For dessert, we were given little shots of ice cream which was delicious along with chocolate fondue. Bit of fruit and biscotti to dip warm chocolate… or even top it off with some whipped cream!

Had a great meal with my colleagues. — I had the Fiorentina T-Bone — very nice. Great experience(and without any of f us speaking Italian). I hope to come here one more time before I leave Milan.

A good find — classic Italian restaurant — definitely NOT a tourist trap. Well off the beaten path, unless you’re a local. Packed on a tuesday night with predominantly locals. The place is named after a famous horse — British bred but Italian trained! Closest metro is Lotto station — which is handy if you are going to a football game at the San Siro. Antipasto plate was great. Pastas — green potato gnocchi was perfect texture, macaroni bolognase also amazing with the sauce and meat stuck inside the macaroni so it pops in your mouth when you bite into it. Somehow, we found space to eat 4 serves of the Fiorentina style T-bone steak(min order 2). In hind sight we should have shared an order for 2 between the four of us! The steak was cooked perfectly, good flavour, decent marbling of meat. There were plenty of other options and cuts for steak lovers. Dessert was included in the price — fruit fondue — and I really don’t know how we finished this. Would definitely return here. Bill — pastas around 15 euro, steak 30 euro per person, wines 15−30+ bottle.
