Sorry, but staying in a concrete and metal bunker is not my idea of the European experience. I actually had a nightmare that I was hunkered down here during a nuclear attack. Fortunately Sergeant Saunders was with me so we kept a tough and fearless perspective. But it was disconcerting nonetheless. I kid you not.

Cool hip modern hotel(with bar) in the middle of the city ! I was here for two days in this hotel and it was really a good choice. You’re right next to the Domo in a quiet street. The interior is really cool. They used a lot of metal and wood and combined it in an unusual way. The rooms are big enough for a city trip and also the same design. A lot of concrete as well. Don’t go here if you don’t like it to dark! they use little light and everything is kinda decorated in dark colors. For me the room was actually to warm… And opening a window was not really an option. The staff was really friendly and helpfull. The restaurant recommendation as well. To the hotel belongs a bar. Not that big, but cool enough. A lot of locals come here to enjoy the apertivo or just to get a cocktail. I’m sure not the cheapest place in town but it’s worth the experience. I would recommend for sure this place. But everything comes with a price. It was not the cheapest hotel, therefor you get excellent service, designish and great location.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, my room is very industrial and chic looking, the light switches are a bit confusing and it takes a bit to actually turn all the lights on and/or off. It is a very green hotel, as they do not offer small toiletries in bottles but big bottles with body wash, shampoo and body lotion which I think is a great idea!!! The bathroom is spacious and very cool looking in its all brass and wood look! The only«bad» thing that there is was that the floors are all concrete and brass metal in both the room and the bathroom and there are no mats, only slippers — so my feet were really cold a lot. I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at Straf for a romantic weekend with my fiancée, choosing based on the fact that the hotel is located only 100m from the Duomo and also the Galleria. The hotel is a design hotel and was in the Mr&Mrs Smith Guide. Our room, at a promotional rate, was on the first floor, and was industrial in design(concrete walls). It was smallish, with relatively little storage space, and a compact bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the aircon powerful(we needed to turn it down). Awaking from a siesta it did feel like a Fritzl-esque dungeon with the starkness of the concrete walls — a feature I believe to be reserved only for the lower floors. The breakfast was very good, although on the Monday morning they were not prepared for the rush to eat at 7am. The staff were helpful — taking our baggage when we arrived early. Some might find the lower floors rather noisy, although I slept very well.

Straf Bar may be very small, but it’s never overcrowded, although this may be due to the weekdays I went there. I usually end up there late, well after aperitivo or dinner time, and have a cocktail with a few friends. Out of all the places I went in Milan, this is probably one of the best for drinks: while you drink you almost can’t taste the alcohol, however when you stand up your legs make you aware of what you drank, and I just love that feeling.

Good. Location, location, location. Steps to Il Duomo cathedral, central piazza, & central galleria. Nice happy hour treats. Bad. Modern at the expense of comfort. Rooms are very dark. TVs are old & remotes don’t work. Sit up in bed and the bed rolls on the slate floor. Bathroom lighting is very poor. Showers do not drain well. Cell phone signal is very poor. Lots of noise at night, from kids outside the first floor bar. Other hotels on same street are probably more comfortable.
