Probably the worst dining experience, in any country, in my entire life. Drove over six hours from Germany to enjoy New Year’s Eve in Milan. We heard that enjoying a multi-course dinner was a New Year’s tradition, so we made reservations at TOM. Quality of the first course seemed lovely(albeit a little cold), and we were excited to continue our meal, but somehow an hour went by and we never got our second course. Despite asking the staff multiple times for our food, we had gone almost two hours without anything – all the while seeing all the tables around us being served. Bottom line, I think their poor logistics and ops management overlooked our table, and when we pointed it out, the staff became incredibly rude and adversarial about it to save face. Literally all they had to do was go to the kitchen and bring the mass-cooked entrees for us. Keep in mind we pre-paid for this«multi-course» meal. We’re educated and professional people – not foolish foreigners who stumbled over some cultural rule – and even if we weren’t, that’s no reason in any dining culture to treat guests the way we were spoken to and ignored. The manager for the night even became condescending and sarcastic when our next plate came out, saying something along the lines of «it’s fast now, isn’t it?». Long story short, we only got maybe half of the plates that were advertised, so this restaurant literally stole money from us. To top it off, the servers were such a mess that we didn’t even get served our advertised champagne bottle until AFTER midnight(they just walked around and hastily poured us partial glasses). So… if TOM’s mission was to leave a bad taste in our mouths regarding Milan, they did a great job.
