WIND is a horrible company. I can’t speak for this specific store, assuming this is a specific store, but WIND Inc, or whatever passes for the national level business here in Italy is dishonest. I opened a contract with them right after moving to Italy in 2010. Contract isn’t quite right, perhaps direct draw is better? I had my own phone, so I was not under any obligation to continue service with them. At that time they had no English speaking customer service reps(and as I’d just moved to Italy, I didn’t speak Italian). My local store in Vicenza, Italy, working with WIND couldn’t get the data on my phone working properly. So after less than a week,(3 days?) I canceled the contract — by FAX, in writing(as per the stores instructions). Now, three years later, after having received 11 Euro and change bills every 3 or so for the last 3 years, WIND is still refusing to terminate my line. Why? Because, while they read and understood my initial request to cancel the contract. When contacted they informed the Italian phone store where I signed the contract that they understood I wanted to cancel service, but the fax wasn’t clear enough. So we sent them a hard copy, registered mail. They then said that the issue hadn’t been their ability to read the contract, but rather they need front and BACK of the driver’s license — to CANCEL the contract! Then they said, well, actually, we don’t always accept foreign driver’s licenses as adequate forms of identification(have I not mentioned I’m simply trying to terminate the service?). The most recent thing they have said is that they want a copy of my passport. ??? Thus, not that WIND actually cares(it’s Italy, not America, customer service, what? reputation??? Whatever), but I’ve made it my mission for the moment to let everyone know — never sign a contract with WIND. WIND pay and go is nice and cheap, but if you ever let them direct draw money from you, you’ll be paying them for years. I’d give them 0 stars if I could!

What a disaster. I’m an American with a new iPhone 5(unlocked). I bought a simm card and a plan from WIND. Told it would take three hours to work. Then by the next morning. Then in twenty minutes. Then over Sunday. Then I had to spend another 5 euros. Then it worked for a day. Then they needed another 5 euros. If you want to send your vacation talking to tech support, buy a WINDSIMM card.
