Hotel La Bussola

The hotel is in a very good location especially if you plan to take a bus or a ferry the next day. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is awesome for those that are used to mediterranean breakfast. They have diverse cakes and pastries. I would have preferred a better price but the region is overpriced anyways.

I would say Hotel La Bussola is just OK. There wasn’t anything really stand out about the hotel besides the concierge. I like to think I speak pretty good Italian but I’m always happy when foreigners are patient enough to let me practice with them. The concierge was awesome and made some great suggestions for us, including where to park our car, where to eat dinner, and what to do on the Eolian islands. The hotel has a VERY modern feel but one thing I did not like was that the room felt sort of cheap. For example, the light fixture and thermostat fell apart when I touched them (literally). Our room was VERY warm and we could not turn the thermostat down (even before I broke it); as a result, we had to sleep with the window open. The restaurant was very average, too. Our meal was quite expensive and was definitely not something out of the ordinary.
In short, the location of the hotel is awesome as you can walk to the port to get to the other islands. I’ll stay here again but out of convenience, not because of how much I enjoyed the stay.
