We had such high hopes for this recommended restaurant, however we were deeply disappointed! First it took a while to be greeted then when asked if we would like wine, we said yes either a sauv blanc/pinot gris BUT no chardonnay… well, the waitress brought a bottle of chardonnay… I thought I’d tried it instead of making a scene… it was not only not what we ordered but it was bad/vinegary/turned…we felt since we were ‘tourists’ that they were just trying to dump a bad bottle of wine on us thinking we had no clue… well, I am a chef and have a clue about wine! We tried telling the waitress about the bottle wine but she ignored us for the rest of the night… the food arrive from a different waitress… it was VERY salty and my guys so called filet was a nasty tough cut of sirloin… we tried speaking to who we believe was the owner(older lady at the register)…she just began yelling at Italian at the top of her lungs to try embarrass me… I just yelled back and said I would let the Marriott/Renaissance-Naples know of our experience. The Marriott restaurant was 150% fresher and so much better as was Mammina(more casual) near the water or Ristorante Mattozzi Europeo on via marchese campodisola 4. DONOTWASTEYOUR Time At HOSTERIATOLEDO!!! It was a terrible waste of money!!! BTW… they never even refunded us the bad bottle of wine!!!

Food is way way over salted here, nothing special and overpriced. Better value options in Napoli. On the other had the wine selection is good & if you get a seat by the window you can watch mo-peds zoom around people & the local kids run around.

Stopped for lunch at Hosteria Toledo and never looked back on the reason why I love Italian food so much. We ordered mainly seafood dishes: — Grilled Mussels — Grlled Eggplant — Linguini with scampi & langostino — Mixed Shellfish pasta with clams and mussels — Octopus — Grilled branzino This was our best meal in Napoli, if not our whole trip to Italy. The grilled mussels was crusted with parmesan — cozze al gratte. The eggplant even had the beautiful grill marks as well as a great, fresh flavor. The pastas were good — linguini with scampi in a tomato olive oil sauce. The paccheri di tutti di mare with clams and mussels. Apparently the waitress forgot our other orders so the octopus took some time to come out. It was a whole mini octopus served in a tomato based sauce with capers. The branzino came out later grilled a bit too much so the tail was dry but the fish on a whole was delicious. This was one of our best meals in Italy. The food was terrific. I especially liked the octopus because I generally do not like the rubbery texture of octopus but it was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I think it was the highlight of the meal since I have never eaten a more tender octopus other than at Venice. The langostino came whole showing the freshness and have a taste similar to a cross between lobster and shrimp. The branzino was good, the tail a bit overcooked but the rest of the fish fine.

Great homestyle cooking in Naples. Small, little 2 story restaurant off Via Toledo. It appears they have a second identity as a «Value» restaurant for tourists which is a shame because the normal restaurant is so good. As with many other spots in Naples, they do a nice fried food app. One of the single best dishes on our whole trip to Italy was a fried ball of ricotta cheese. It was insanely good. I had the ragu pasta which was very flavorful. My wife ordered the ‘breakfast” pasta which was similar to carbonara but with a fried egg instead of a raw one. Super delicious. The place was packed with locals, talking loudly and laughing which is always a good sign. I’d look this place up and recommend it to others for sure.
