Now, hold the phone here…3 stars? I disagree with this assessment. First off, #Yelp has this placed incorrectly placed. The map has it about .2 miles away from it’s actual location. That should be corrected. You can look on, forgive the use of a competitor here, #tripadvisor for the correct location. You can tell that many guidebooks mention this establishment from the various tongues being spoken in this clean, bright, well arranged establishment. There are, however, many locals here too. The owner is super friendly and spoke decent English. We had; spaghetti with tomato and various seafood, a fillet of fish in tomato and olive sauce(good but overpriced, stick with the pasta), an amazing pasta with squid in its own ink and a bottle of red wine. With bread and a smaller fried appetizer it came to 79 €. This meal in San Francisco would cost twice as much. We were really happy with the fresh fish, excellent service and family feel of this spot. My girlfriend claims it was one of our best meals in over two months of travel in Europe! Now, she may have been a little tipsy, but, this was damn fine eating. Super fresh. Not sure what’s up with the mediocre reviews… this is a solid bet. I’ll try and email Unilocalski to fix the location. Enjoy, Gringos.

The process of getting to Trattoria Piccolo Napoli was a bit of an adventure. We got lost in the alleyways at night trying to find the restaurant and asked a number of people for directions in broken Italian. At one point we were standing in the middle of an alley while a family stood on their balcony calling out random phrases in English to us. Finally a good Samaritan figured out where we were asking directions to and walked us over. The restaurant is mentioned in different guidebooks and websites as serving well prepared Sicilian style seafood. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived but service a bit slow. We weren’t in any hurry so it wasn’t an issue but I can imagine how the lackadaisical approach to customer service can be annoying to a lot of people. We had some wine and a few different dishes but none of them stood out from everywhere else we’d been eating in Palermo. We had fried chickpea fritters, some swordfish, and the Bucatini con Sarde(Bucatini with Sardines) which were all recommended to us by our server. The pasta was tasty but the portion was somewhat small for the price. 3 stars for A-OK.

Price is rather expensive for the quality — which surprises me the Lonelyplanet tip. If you order as secondo Swordfish Involtini you get 2 tiny rolls for 8 euro, thus make sure you order a prima or else you’ll stay hungry. Otherwise, the fish dishes are fresh and tasty.
