I don’t actually know why I like this place so much but I do. Probably the awesome relaxed, not check-ed cloth interiors. But mainly because of the extensive booze list. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for food but i would definitely for wine and beer. They also have a happy hour which doesn’t get you all that much off but worth checking out. If you can, grab the window seat for the ultimate drinking/people watch session. Not the best service but if you get a bottle of wine then there is no need to be interrupted. Can get a free glass of water(gasp!)! Yes you heard me. Free water. Ask for tap. Has wifi.

We discovered Civico 4 on our second day in Rome after visiting the Colosseum and surrounding area’s. The menu was completely in Italian, it was not in any of our tourist books, and the purveyor was immediately welcoming when we walked in to check out the menu. To us that was meeting our three main requirements of finding random spots in foreign countries so we had to take a closer look. The owner was so excited about his beautiful display of freshly roasted vegetables that we had to take a seat and try it out. We let him lead us along our meal and it ended up being absolutely perfect. The joint was empty when we arrived but was filled with local Italians when we left and we knew why — because of the amazing service and quality of food. We started out with a plate of veggies, roasted peppers, eggplant, zucchini, and artichoke along with some freshly baked bread and local olive oil. He then brought out this beautiful plate of buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto and tomato. Talk about Combo-Bite heaven here, I essentially made twenty different mini bite sandwiches with all of the different ingredients. For the finale, Mushroom Ravioli with a delicate butter sauce with more mushrooms then butter. Paired with a lovely Rose and Italian Beer, we could not ask for more.
