So… Tried to eat here but we were told that it closed a couple of months ago. Bummer…

Found this place through Unilocal and decided to try. Not the nicest atmosphere, a bit open and bright lights. Ordered an Amatriciana and a Saltimbocca with potato. This was truly the best Amatriciana I had so far in my life! Al dente, fantastic depth in the sauce. Just love it. The Saltimbocca had a good flavour of rosemary, and deserves a 3+. If I’m back in the neighbourhood I’ll definitely be back for the Amatriciana!

We ate here one night in Rome and were delighted with it. One of the owners turned off the Muzak box, which was playing mainly American music, and he sat down at a piano and started playing Italian music for us. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. This place is a real find.

In a word: uninspired. Nothing was awful, but nothing was great. Ambience is non-existent, service was indifferent, pasta was well-cooked but not too flavourful. This was close to our hotel in Rome and we were exhausted from a day of touring, so the only thing it had going for it was proximity to my bed. Find something better.

Been in Rome for three days coming from Arkansas in the U.S. you must eat here. 1 bottle of house wine, 1 appetizer, and 2 entries was 43,50 euros. Food is top notch. Don’t be those that go on the main road pay twice as much and skip this place. It is outstanding.

Review # 600. Our favorite restaurant in Rome was Ristorante La fontana. The food was so good that we ate here two nights in a row! We stumbled upon this hidden gem by dumb luck. We were seeking a restaurant nearby our hotel so that we could avoid walking in the rain. We found this restaurant just around the corner from our hotel and the reviews on Trip Adviser were good so we decided to give it a chance. Ristorante La fontana has been serving authentic Italian food since the 1950’s. The restaurant is a landmark of the«Dolce Vita» in Rome. Famous celebrities from around the world such as Tyrone Power, Princess Soraya, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis have dined at this restaurant. The décor has not changed much since the restaurant first opened so visitors today can experience the same atmosphere from the 1950’s. The staff speaks Italian and very little English so we had a little bit of a language barrier during our meal. Luckily the staff was so friendly and patient with my broken Italian. The house wine was great and bread was great. When I requested«olio» our waiter brought me three bottles for me to choose from! On our first visit I had the tortellini and the second night I had the lasagna. The lasagna was out of this world good! Other memorable dishes were the prosciutto and melon, the antipasti platter with mozzarella, prosciutto and grilled zucchini, and of course the dessert: tiramisu! The prices are so reasonable compared to the other restaurants in the Business District and I think the food is much more authentic at Ristorante La fontana. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Conveniently located around the corner from our hotel Regina Baglioni we ate here a few times on our visit to Rome last week. The first night we had take-out since I was deathly ill fighting cold/flue like symptoms. My husband picked up a tasty sausage pizza for the kids. Thin crust baked to perfection. Then he brought some chicken rice soup which was very hot but soothing and tasty. He also brought some mushroom risotto which I actually ended up eating more of than the soup because it was literally addicting. On our next visit we had the house wine, bruschetta, clams, caprese, lasagna, fetuccini and pizza. The Fetuccini Alfredo was sprinkled with nutmeg so it made the dish appropriate for the holidays every bite made me want to sing a Christmas song. The bruschetta was very flavorful with chunky tomatoes and crispy bread toasted with olive oil. Every bite was deliciously fabulous. Clams were cooked in a tasty broth which we slopped up with artisan bread. Wine was incredible-a perfect red wine that complimented the food perfectly. The waitress wrote the name down for me so I’m off to find a case. If you are in the Via Venetto area or honestly even if you’re not, come here. Service wonderful, accommodating and freindly. Food…five stars!

The owner here welcomed us to sit down, but other than that your standard service. You can find relief from the sun here, as it is inside an alleyway. The fish of the day was pretty good, and deboned quite well. Potatoes that accompanied it were soft and subtly flavored with herbs and olive oil. It’s a very good portion for lunch, and nice relief from the pasta from a Rome vacation. Chicken was also a pretty large portion. Pizza was liked around the table, but again not the most amazing we’ve tasted. An OK place that will fill you up satisfactorily.

A terrific inexpensive alternative to the tourist traps along Via Venetto that push 70 euro fish dinners and poor quality food. Best bruschetta we had in Rome. Great fresh pasta and pizza. Our party of 4 spent under 70 euros(without wine)
