my god. my favorite place while i was in italy. it’s a neighborhood gem and far away from all touristy sides so it serves mostly locals, but don’t worry, they still have English speaking stuff and English menu. you can’t go wrong with anything you order and it’s also much cheaper than restaurants in the city center!

Had dinner at Lo Convento last month. Convento is convent in Italian, and this place, it seems, is a former convent. The all-male wait staff wore monk outfits, no nuns, which is okay, because the service was good, nonetheless. Place looks like a tourist trap — we were the only obvious tourists, the other patrons looked like locals, some of them in large family groups. Ambiance is large open dining area, perhaps the old convent’s refectory. No Gregorian chants, and I don’t remember any background music. The prices are very reasonable, the food is above average(I had a ham /pesto pasta dish, my wife shared a pizza with her colleague). Our total bill, including wine for my wife and me, and diet coke for the colleague was 21.50 Euros. We left a 5 Euro tip for our monk wait person. I’d return to Lo Convento. It’s a short cab ride from the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center, maybe 10 Euros or so.
