Honestly, one of the best meals of my life. I started with a pear/Gorgonzola salad and a large ball of buffalo mozzarella. Then onto some pear/Gorgonzola gnocchi, all washed down with their house white wine. I can’t wait to go back.

Very bad experience! Not the same as it used to be. I ate here 5 years ago on new year’s eve. It was wonderful. I tried to go on Tuesday night and the floor manager who was seating guests was really rude. I tried to tell him we would wait for a table upstairs and he said no. At least one third of the tables were empty, but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that all of those tables were being held for reservations later on. But I looked around the room and saw several tables finishing their meal or having dessert. I tried to ask to wait for a table but he insisted I go downstairs. It was hot and musty and had an unpleasant smell. The manager was unhappy when I politely asked if we could please wait for a table upstairs. He said this is the only available and shoved past me and went back upstairs. Maybe he was in a bad mood or he hates tourists? I have been to Rome several times and I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant. I also recommend it to friends but now I will stop. Never again. Too bad.

Came here on the recommendations of an Italian colleague. It was good but not outstanding. The penne arribiata was good but the caprese salad was just ok. Tiramisu was ok.

The concierge desk recommended this place to us. Unbelievable fresh home made pasta dishes(try the carbonara or cacio pepe) excellent atmosphere, and friendly staff. Definitely a must visit when in Rome.

This restaurant was reccomended by a friend but I wasnt really impressed. The service was ok, the ambiance was nothing special. I think the best part of the meal was the bread. They are known for homemade rustic Roman dishes but I could do better cooking myself. The fresh pasta was good but the sauces were either to bland or to rich. We tried quite a few of the dishes. I ordered a carpaccio as well and never even recieved it. Overall was ok but wouldn’t come back.

9 years ago this was one of my favorite restaurants in the city. But a lot can change in almost a decade and unfortunately this restaurant has not changed for the better. The good: They have a huge selection of pastas that all sound tantalizing. From carbonara, to cacio e pepe, to lasagna you’ll have almost every pasta you’ve ever dreamed of. Service is pretty efficient and there is seating outside. It’s very affordable, around $ 12 euros a pasta. The bad: This has turned into a tourist trap. It feels like a pasta factory and not in a good way. Your pasta is likely to be made in a batch of 10. The pastas have become so incredibly rich they are hard to stomach. We ended up ordering the carbonara and the fettuccine with pesto. The pesto one was ok. The pesto had good flavor but was still really, really rich. The carbonara was so heavy, it was hard to eat more than one bite. It seems the dishes have lost their delicacy and detail. I won’t be returning to this restaurant.

Lage toll, Essen gut, Kellner nicht interessiert. Abgefertigt. Ist aber egal, Kundschaft strömt trotzdem rein. 50 Minuten für Antipasti und secondi, danach gezahlt und gegangen. Hat niemanden interessiert. Schade.

Good dinner! Good service! Pastas were great, especially the linguine with truffles. Pesto was very good as well. Did not care much for the steak, but we had to give it a shot. All around, a very enjoyable spot.

My husband and I ate here twice during our 3 night stay in Rome — once for dinner and once for lunch. First of all, the ambiance and set up of the restaurant is great — lots of seating, an open view of the kitchen — fantastic! And the service is great as well, even on a busy night. When we came for dinner, we ordered two of the most popular dishes — the Carbonara and the Cacio e Pepe. We were expecting heaven on a plate and ended up being quite disappointed. The food was good, but it wasn’t something we couldn’t make at home. We felt that it was missing that oomph factor! Well, my husband decided that he wanted to give it another shot, so we came back from lunch in a couple of days. This time we ordered a cheese plate to start(A MUST — great selection that pairs well with the house red!). And we also ordered the gorgonzola gnocchi and pasta arrabbiata. Both dishes surpassed our expectations. The sauces were incredible! Lesson learned — sometimes you have to order what sounds good to you and not what the reviews tell you is good!

This place is so packed. So many tables in this establishment. People seem to flock to this place and I can see why. The food is good and in huge portions(the pastas at least). I had the pesto pasta and I could not finish it. It’s too much food. The tiramisu is amazing. You must get that for dessert. Even if you’re full.

We stopped here for a quick dinner and we were not disappointed. Of all the restaurants we ate at in Rome, Maccheroni had some of the best flavor. One thing to avoid: House Wine. Spend more money and buy a bottle of wine — the 8 euro liter of house wine tastes like grape juice. The food: We ordered the baked gnocchi and the italian sausage and it was delicious. The sausage was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was creamy and had cheese baked on top. The sauce was delicious. The service was good. I would definitely return here for lunch next time I am in Rome.

Recommended by our local guide from the walking tour earlier, this place was a no-frill trattoria with good wine and solid food at great prices. I had probably one of the simplest dishes, rigatoni with tomato sauce. I was surprised how good a simple pasta dish could be. The pasta was cooked to al-dente perfection topped off with fresh tomato sauce. Good wine with delicious carbs — I’m a happy gal.

This was out first lunch in Rome as recommended by our Hotel Portrait Suites and they couldn’t have been more on the money. After getting lost a few times we found the right alley and had a great unrushed lunch. Still haven’t found bresaola that tender or tasty back in the states and believe me I have tried. Staff was fast moving but friendly and welcoming. If you are in Rome and want a not so touristy lunch look no further

Oh Rome… how I miss you. Maccheroni was one of my favorite stops when visiting beautiful Rome. We were recommended by a local for the incredible Carbonara and it did not disappoint. We did have a reservation but arrived late, so seating was a little hard to come by. Since it was July, the heat was making us very uncomfortable on the ground level so they offered to seat us downstairs. The downstairs was lovely and much cooler.

I am seriously shocked that anyone would rate this restaurant highly. Perhaps we went on a(very) off night? We didn’t have a restaurant planned for one of our nights in Rome and so I took to Unilocal to find a place near our apartment. Here’s the deal: — the wine was easily the best part of the meal, and it wasn’t even that great. — the bread was totally tasteless. — the cacio è pepe was the heaviest, creamiest thing in the world(which are usually words I like when it comes to pasta). You couldn’t take more than 2 bites of it without wanting to empty the contents of your stomach. — the chicken cacciatore was NOTHING like what cacciatore is supposed to be. It was as if when making the gravy for this dish the chef tripped and fell and spilled the entire container of pepper into the pan. I couldn’t get past the sheer pepper flavor to fully experience the chicken. No tomato, no vegetables in the sauce(though there were fresh tomatoes on the side). Chicken tasted like chicken but that’s about all we can say about it. — the carbonara is literally worse than kraft macaroni and cheese(in both color and taste) with a few pieces of uncooked bacon. Seriously. — the meatballs tasted like they were from a frozen dinner. These were probably the best food we got, which should tell you about the quality of this restaurant… — the osso bucco… I don’t even know where to start. First of all, the color: a weird, neon orange that made it look nasty. The texture was a chewy, rubbery mess that was very unfortunate and not at all reminiscent of well-cooked osso bucco. This was easily the worst dish anyone ordered. In conclusion, please spend your money elsewhere if you want to eat well in Rome(try Sora Margherita in the Jewish ghetto if you’re looking for a great meal! Try the meatballs and thank me later.)

Tripa & Caccio! Yumm yummm. I love this place and their beautiful outdoor seating. It is not right in the middle of all the crazy busy things. It’s almost kind of hidden but it’s easy to find. You can sit inside and outside but definitely choose outside for lunch. You can gaze into the buildings, narrow little cobble stone streets and people watch as you dine on their delicious offering. Who gets steak in Rome? You should! Romans are known for their love of meat. Meat, offals and all things simple and cheesy. Baccala too but they didn’t have it here. Steak– great! Comes with a side of simple salad. Caccio e pepe — this version of caccio e pepe is a wet one. Its wet and creamy. I prefer the dry style. But it is still tasty. They use a big pasta which is so divine. Tripa — classic roman dish. Tripe in tomato sauce. Spicy too! Yummmm Proscuitto and dolce! Yumm yumm. Overall, it was a laid back lunch on a very hot summer day in Rome. Make sure you call ahead because you will need a reservation. This place is always packed! Service is efficient. If you speak italian, it gets even better :) Food will put you in a food coma. What’s not to love??!

Absolutely must get the Cacio e Pepe… I have never had anything so good anywhere in my entire life!!! When you are near Piazza Navona, walk a couple of streets outside of the main circle and you will walk into this gem of a place! MAKE A RESERVATIONINPRIME-SEASON! Will always make it a point to stop here whenever I layover in Rome Buon Appetito

I ate here with my grandmother. We split a soup(which they put in two bowls without complaining/charging us), had the amatriciana and arrabiata pastas, split the osso buco, and split strawberries and cream. We were both very full and everything was excellent, especially the soup and amatriciana. The ossobuco was very big and flavorful, although not quite as tender as would have been ideal(this could have been because the place was closing and they just wanted to get it out). The pastas are also legitimately al dente. With house wine, this amounted to a great 4 course dinner for 63 euros. I wish we had tried the other pastas because both of our dishes had rigatoni which was probably from a box. The fresh pastas looked great.
