Being from the states and always have a vast variety of food to choose from I really needed a break from the 3 P’s(pasta, pizza and panini’s) and luckily we found this little joint. My husband and I were thrilled to find a Chinese restaurant in Rome with good reviews. So we walked 20 minutes from our hotel in the center of Rome to Mr. Chow’s. The restaurant was very authentic and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I missed rice so much I had two bowls! Mr. Chow’s gets packed so go early or make a reservation. When we arrived, we were told there would be an hour plus wait because they were booked and we couldn’t even order to-go since the kitchen was so packed. We ultimately decided to wait and I’m so glad we did, especially because it was really only like 45 minutes and the food and service were wonderful!

If you’ve been craving great Asian food after a few too many pastas and bread, then Mr Chow will certainly satisfy. Great food. Top marks for the hot and sour soup on a cold winter’s day!

Excellent food. It was definitely one of the better Chinese food we’ve had. Good & friendly English speaking staff. I’ll definitely make it point to have dinner here next time I’m in Rome. I’d recommend making a reservation as it does tend to get pretty crowded during dinner

I went to this restaurant because it sounded good from the reviews and I, too, was a little tired of pasta and pizza. I have to say it was a disappointing experience. I know this isn’t the U.S. and perhaps they were on the Roman equivalent of «que sera, sera» or the attitude was akin to a classic Gallic shrug. This was the first time I did not leave a little extra for the waiter beyond the service charge. The service was awful:(1) they served my later courses while I was still eating the soup as if they wanted me to eat and be gone; yet, I had ask three times for the bill(both in Italian and English) and until I walked up to the counter holding the folio with my credit card I had to stand around waiting for the older sister and the brother who served me to put my card through the machine while I stood there. It was not that crowded; there were five family members running the restaurant in the front of the house and there were only four other parties(3 sets of 2 and 1 table with four people) the entire time I was in the restaurant and only two tables left who were finished eating and just chatting when I was leaving. Further, the food was NOT good. The hot and sour soup was hot(temperature wise) but not tasting hot nor sour. I had some rice which was allegedly fried but it was closer to risoto than fried rice. The almond chicken came with perhaps one sliver of an almond(found when the waiter pointed it out to me when I complained that what they gave me was more like Kung Pao chicken because it was chock full of peanuts which was not mentioned on the menu and is not what almond chicken should contain. I’m surprised no one with a serious peanut allergy got sick or brought it to their attention before eating it. When I said, nicely um, I think you gave me the wrong dish, the father was summoned from behind the cash register and said Kung Pao is spicy. I did not say, well, yeah but the soup you gave me wasn’t so … Again, I KNOW this is not the U.S. but gee, they should not deceive and possibly endanger the customer. This may be the only bad review I have ever written but I was so mad at paying the equivalent of $ 45 U.S. for cup of bland soup, soggly rice that was listed on the menu as fried rice and veggies(but there were only some carrot shreds in it), tiny chicken chunks in a tasteless sauce containing lots of peanuts and some unidentified vegetable stem pieces. I admit that I had a glass of inexpensive Chianti but that still doesn’t justify the bill. I guess they will just continue cheating the Italians who may not know what is going on. If this is the best Chinese restaurant in Rome, it’s time for another trip east for a descendant of Marco Polo.

Best chinese food I ever had in my life. Great prices and service with nice looking interior. Don’t forget to order Cantonese and shrimp fried rice which are only 6 euros each with great taste with extra salty flavor. We also tried a spicy chicken kun bao which was terrific. My wife never usually likes chinese food but she loved it. We are staying at Rome life hotel which is only 100 feet from the restaurant. We will go there tomorrow again.

Good stuff. Mr Chow was walking distance from our hotel, which was nice. After eating a whole lot of delicious Italian food, we were in the mood for some Chinese. Ordered our food to go. Employees are friendly and quick. The restaurant is neat and clean, with plenty of seating inside. We asked for paper plates and they happily threw some in the bag for us. They wrapped our food neatly and we were on our merry way. I appreciate that they season things perfectly here. Nothing was overly salty or greasy. The portions were just right. It was the perfect amount of food for us. Bok Choy was fresh and the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings had a lovely skin with generous amounts of shrimp filling. Beef Fried Rice had good flavor but the consistency was slightly different for me. The dish was a bit more wet than what I’m used to and the rice was stuck together. Overall, a nice place to try out if you’re looking for some Chinese food.

Yes, Yes! This Chinese restaurant is a must! The food and service are both excellent. Having lived in Hong Kong for two years and being from California, I can easily say this place offers some of the best, most authentic Chinese food I’ve had ever. Also very reasonably priced, especially compared to the nearby Italian restaurants.

After a week of chaotic, loud and great Italian restaurants for marathon length dinners I ended up at Mr. Chow for my least dinner in Rome. The environment is clean, quiet and relaxed. Service was fast and efficient. Food was fresh and hot. Very good Chinese food reasonably priced. When you are ready for a break from Italian fare — Mr Chow’s is an oasis for a relaxing, simple and peaceful meal.

Great place with the most authentic Chinese food out of the 4 Chinese restaurants we visited in Italy. Lots of varied Chinese vegetables in their dishes and the cooking style had wok-cooked taste. The prices are reasonable as well. We ordered 1 appetizer, 5 dishes, 2 bowls of rice, water, and tea for ~55 €. Would recommend for anyone looking for a change from Italian food.

First time in Rome, frequent Chinese food eater from Boston. Came here after a few days of pure Italian food to spice it up, was not disappointed. Went with a group of 5, got various kinds of fried rice, soups, and meat dishes, no one had any complaints. The staff was very friendly and the price was very reasonable. The restaurant is in fact located at 29 Via Genova, although some websites have different addresses.

While vacationing in Rome and after many amazing Italian meals, we decided to change things a bit and stumbled into Mr. Chows and what a pleasant surprise it was. The food was great and the hospitality is amazing. Highly recommend anyone looking for a break from all the amazing Italian restaurants to try Mr. Chows.

The best Chinese Restaurant in Rome! Being a Chinese we naturally look for Chinese food to cure the craving. Mr Chow satisfy all our needs and the young owner is friendly and always makes sure his clients are well taken care of. My family were there twice and have seen many guests that are sure returning ones.
