best meal in Italy during our two week trip. Via Bergamo, 5612:30 — 15:30. 68411769 make reservation. Fantastic in every way. Impeccable service, clean place and unique bathroom! But the FOOD– oh my gosh! My photos are horrible but the food was absolutely fantastic. Even for my meat-eating boyfriend, he loved everything! We had to even try the apple dessert and coffee. the owner happened to be there. I pleaded with him to open this place in California. It was so GREAT! Go there

This was a wonderful place. Highly recommended for vegans, since there’s really not much in Rome if you are vegan. It was like finding an oasis in the desert– I was getting tired of having to order marinara pizza everywhere. The prices aren’t bad, but you have to be careful while you’re piling your plate or else you can find yourself paying a pretty penny(err– euro).

EXCELLENTFOOD! My husband and I ate here for lunch. The staff was so sweet and inviting! There was an incredible variety of food. Everything we ate was superb! The salads, hot dishes and desserts were fantatstic! If we had the time we would definitley go there again. My only complaint is that we didn’t try this place sooner during our stay in Rome! If we’re ever in Rome again, we’ll definitely be eating here!

Being vegan in Rome can get a bit tiresome. You learn to live on penne arrabiata and pizza marinara, and your only vegetables probably come in the form of an insalata mista. Your only protein comes from the Cliff Bars you brought with you! Or at least, this is what Rome is like for me! At home, I eat a diet very high in vegetables and legumes and very low in processed foods, so after a few days of eating nothing but bread and pasta, I don’t feel too hot anymore. Ops was EXACTLY what I needed! I was able to get my fill of a wide assortment of delicious vegetables, lentils, tempeh, tofu… everything I was missing in my diet! So, if you are vegan and visiting Rome, I demand you eat at least 1 meal here, for your health!!! However, a word of warning… We got there at about 12:50, and we were told they only had the cold salads available but the hot food came out at 1. So, my husband and I both took a plate of salads(and I used a very light hand when filling my plate, since I knew I was coming back for seconds), and then, a modest selection of hot foods on a plate when those were ready. When we paid the check, I suddenly knew why this place is called«Ops!» because that is what we said when we saw the price! It was about $ 70 for 2 small salad plates, 2 modest meal plates and 1 espresso! We realized this was the most expensive lunch either of us have ever had, anywhere! Oh well, the food was great, and I really did need to eat a bunch of veggies and lentils. It was worth it. :-)

I would give this place 0 stars if it was possible. I have never been treated in such a horrible manner in my entire life. My boyfriend went here at the end of our Europe trip. We were on a shoe string budget(we aren’t spoiled rich kids… just people who love the world and other people and want to see as many places as we can) but we were very excited for some Vegan food as eating Vegan while traveling around can get slightly complicated… a lot of Pizza Marinara. Anyway… yes, I was a tourist, and yes… I am American. But wow, just wow… I’ve never been treated so terrible. We are easy customers but while home and abroad. We don’t talk much, don’t ask for much, are independent and patient. But apparently this restaurant has a game called«try to rip the tourists off as much as possible» First, we got our food excitedly. So excited to see quinoa and tofu… the sorts of things we eat at home regularly. Next, we put the food up on the scales for her and smile nicely. *NOTE* My boyfriend speaks quite decent Italian. The scale for my boyfriend’s plate read more than 1.85 kg. Now… I get that they think a «stupid American tourist» doesn’t know what a kg is(because we use a really lame system of pounds while the rest of the world uses a much more useful and sensical metric system) but I DO in fact know how much a kg is. And… that’s over 4POUNDSOFFOOD. Which is almost the size of a bowling ball! So we say politely«no, that’s not right». The lady got major attitude with us and was super rude, but I had to insist. And… indeed, she took the plate off and reset the scale and it was nearly half the weight. All the while she was huffing and puffing and being extraordinarily rude. At this point we just wanted to leave, it’s embarrassing to be treated so terribly. Then, she rings our total up and it’s 57 Euros! Are you kidding me? For two plates of food and two beers. I mean, we figured it would be somewhere close to 35 Euros, maybe 40 tops! At this point my jaw just dropped to the floor. I mean… what can you say when you know someone is repeatedly trying to rip you off? At what point do you just cast your eyes to the floor and fork over the money and just try to get out of there? It was embarrassing! It made me feel so terrible that I felt sick. Anyway… as it turns out she double charged us for one of the plates and we caught it. So she was forced to grudgingly refund the 18 Euros for the double charge. She was so so rude. And we didn’t even argue or talk back or… anything. We just took it. We ate our food. It was okay, it tasted of bitterness and embarrassment. Trying to just rate the food is difficult because of the overall experience. I would say that the food was average. My boyfriend and I make vegan dishes like this better at home. I guess the worst part is the fact that I expected the Vegan/Vegetarian community and lifestyle to overcome inevitable attempt to rip tourists off. Our vegan lifestyle is very important to us, as it is with many vegans. It’s a life of compassion, a life attempting to be healthy and not exploit the planet, animals and over humans. I expected more. I visited vegan restaurants in other cities where the staff were so delighted to share their love and their version of a vegan lifestyle. We were treated kindly and with warmth everywhere else. But this place… I mean, obviously I’ll never go back. But I can hope that I can deter a person or two from having to deal with this restaurant.
