On a recent trip to Rome, my fiancé and I gambled on a small B&B that had just opened. It ended up being the best place we stayed in Italy. Just 30 minutes by train from Fiumcino, Trastevere is the perfect neighborhood to stay in when in Rome. It has great restaurants that aren’t too touristy, a team that goes right into the heart of historic Rome, a few sweet tourist sights of its own, and it felt very safe. Rhea Silvia is small, only three rooms in a condo building. The rooms are beautifully appointed with comfortable beds with great sheets, a minibar with free water and soda, a Nespresso machine, large flat-screen television, and a very fancy bathroom with a chroma therapy shower. Guiseppe, the owner, made sure we got settled in, and even left us small treats(a bottle of wine, fresh fruit) each night with a handwritten note. There was a great café around the corner where we were able to enjoy a complimentary breakfast of fresh squeezed juice, cappuccino, and pastry each day. All of this, and we still paid less than 100 euro a night. Rhea Silvia felt like home away from home, and we will definitely have it at the top of our list for our next visit to Rome.
