Tazza d’Oro is the best coffee I had in Rome.
No I take that back, it’s the best coffee I had, period!
This classic coffee shop by Pantheon is popular for a reason: the coffee is beyond words! Whether it’s an espresso shot or a cappuccino, anything I got from Tazza d’Oro is better than anything I had. Better yet, nothing costs more than € 2! This is seriously the perfect coffee paradise for me.
It’s only a standing bar and can get crowded but the service is fast and efficient and most locals just down it and go, so don’t get daunted if you see a crowd and grab yourself a coffee as you explore the historic center! I love the coffee so much that I took a long detour to return just for round 2 before I leave Rome, and I think once you taste it, you’ll see why and maybe even do the same.
And if you love the coffee and can’t stay in Rome, grab yourself a bag of coffee beans.

Soooo buusssyyy whhhyyyyyy. Not worth it :(

There was no wait when I arrived. Only a couple people in line ahead of me. The cashier was friendly enough. I ordered 2 granitas at 3 € apiece, which came to a grand total of 6 €. The cup it comes in is about the size of my palm. So pretty small. It’s a dollop of whipped cream on the bottom, then a layer of very sweet concentrated slushy coffee, followed by more of the same whipped cream on top. It’s refreshing and gives you the caffeine kick you need. A great little treat to enjoy on a hot day. The baristas making drinks are not terribly friendly but they are polite and get the job done. There is a bathroom. They also have a variety of other caffeinated beverages and pastries that they sell. I even saw one lady order some kind of soft serve ice cream looking coffee. There’s not really much seating, but most people just order and take their drink to leave.
Make sure to go to the cashier to order and pay first. The cashier will hand you a ticket with your receipt– hand one of the baristas behind the counter your ticket and wait for your goodies.
Overall it was good and refreshing but not amazing. Not sure what the hype is about. I would definitely order it again and come by if I’m in the area, but I don’t see why it is so crazy popular. Also I think it is slightly overpriced at 3 €.

The coffee was super good, one of the best I had in Rome. The service was really slow, it seemed they are just ignoring us.

My husband and I were in Rome for 3 full days, came here all 3 days! Efficient way of running this place, order at the cashier and take your receipt to one of the barristas. Best cappuccino’s I’ve ever had! I love the «standing only» service, no «to go» cups. Just the way coffee, espresso’s and cappuccino’s are supposed to be had. I look forward to coming to Rome again, and once again, I will be coming here over and over again. Tourists and locals abound in this hidden gem.

Five star experience. The coffee is excellent but the thing to get is the frozen granita. Like snow flakes of coffee. With home made not too sweet whipped cream. There are no words.

Thick, frothy, robust coffee served by 20yr+ experienced Baristas. Ambiance its purely chaotic but someone each person pays and drinks coffee (standing at the bar), in less than 15 minutes. Enjoyed every moment siping my Cappuccino at Tazza d’Oro.

Long lines but they move fast – the espresso granita was the stuff of dreams. The one with whipped cream had too much cream not enough granita, but that granita… Just insanely delicious! I’d come here all the time if I lived in Rome.

Not much to say here — you pay at the cashier first and hand your ticket to somebody behind the counter. We got two café espressos and croissants which were absolutely amazing.
We planned on going back but didn’t get the chance. Make sure you stop by!

Super convenient as it is right by the pantheon. Cheap prices especially considering the location. The granita was SO good. It is made of really strong coffee/​espresso, and has delicious whipped cream on the bottom and top. Not overly sweet or bitter, but definitely a lot of caffeine. I loved it.

I looked forward to waking up every morning in Rome for a cappuccino and cornetti! No fuss, just some espresso and a pastry. Walk in and place your order, get your receipt and find a spot at the bar. No fuss — just tell them which cornetti you want. I add a little sugar to everything. you’re on vacation! Coming from a city where pretty much everything is overpriced, this daily breakfast for just a few euros was like striking gold. Delicious coffee, thick foam and a slightly sweet bread gave me the energy i needed to tour Rome.

Simply a perfect cup of coffee. Tazza d’Oro is my favorite café in all of Rome, right next to the Pantheon, another of my favorites. The amount of times I have popped in here with friends or on my own during my time in Rome is innumerable. This café holds a special place in my heart.

Sehr gute Qualität, günstiger Preis. Nicht gerade der Platz für zelebrierte langsame Kaffeerituale — aber genug, um nach dem Genuss wieder hellwach den Scharen von Nutzlosigkeiten-​Verkäufern ausweichen zu können :)

Try the Granita!
It looked awesome on Unilocal,so even though I had been very loyal to Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè during my stay in Rome, I knew I had to stop in here and try this!
The place was very busy in the morning, and used the usual Italian café ticketing style. I ordered a Granita (3 Euro) and then picked it up at the far end of the bar.
It had whipped cream on the bottom, then a large layer of frozen coffee, topped with yet another layer of whipped cream… and it was absolutely delicious! This isn’t the iced coffee you’re used to, but instead actual frozen coffee… and better yet, frozen Italian coffee.
I tried a granita at a few other places after this to compare, and found that what makes this the best (in addition to the quality of frozen coffee) is the double whipped cream on bottom and top. This gives you something to balance out and calm the flavor impact when the frozen coffee starts to seem strong.

Good Cappuccinos.
Pay the cashier first (yes, you have to stand in that long line). Take your receipt and hand it to one of the gentlemen behind the counter. Enjoy! I liked the flavor profile of the cappuccino here, but I wouldn’t say it was my ultimate favorite, while visiting Rome. It was still very good and had a smooth finish. The flavor was a bit light. Employees are quick and friendly enough. They have a restroom in here and it’s clean. Yay.

Being in Rome reminds me of The Lizzie McGuire Movie way back in 2003, and the climactic finale «What Dreams Are Made Of» was the theme song of my trip; Tazza d’Oro is the epitome of what I dreamt Italian coffee would be.
As with most Italian coffee shops, you order at the register (you can buy coffee, ground or beans, by the way — I recommend it!) and step up to the counter with your receipt.
My family ordered cappuccinos (delicious!) and probably the single tastiest thing I ate in Italy (more so than gelato!): granita di caffe con panna (espresso granita with whipped cream).
It’s absolutely refreshing on a hot Italian summer day, and the panna isn’t sweet — it’s literally just whipped heavy cream. It hardens a little bit because it’s sitting on top of/​underneath the granita, and it becomes reminiscent of Lucky Charms marshmallows, which I happen to adore.
(By the way, if you order the granita, redeem your order at the counter farthest from the register — that’s where the baristas make them.)
Being back in the US, I dream of this. I want this. Good thing I threw that coin into the Trevi Fountain because I’ll be back for you, delicious granita from Tazza d’Oro!!!

I went here for morning coffee & pastries throughout my entire stay in Rome.

Eso sí, pides en la barra y pagas la cuenta a la amable señora que está al otro lado del local a modo de estanquera (también venden tabaco) y recaudadora.
El local es muy chiquitín, sólo hay una mesita para sentarse y unas sillas de barra, por ello, creo que es un lugar de paso.
Parece ser que no en todos los bares de Roma sirven un buen café, pues probando probando, la verdad es que otros sitios no nos convencieron. Por ello:

I absolutely cannot rave about this place enough. I will sit and daydream about this place in traffic, at the office, or whenever I think of traveling to Europe again. If you visit Rome, your trip is not complete without grabbing an espresso or cappuccino at Tazza d’Oro, and for the price, why not grab both!
I stayed in an apartment just south of the Pantheon by the Campo del Fiori. This coffee shop was on the «to do» list while in Rome. While I normally like to explore and try lots of different options, there was no way I was risking sub-​par coffee after trying this on my first morning in the city. Every morning for five days my friend and I walked here and ordered the exact same thing — two cappuccinos and two espressos for only 4 euros! With the exchange rate at the time, this equated to roughly 5 USD — a total steal in our books.
This is a classic Italian coffee bar. You order at the register (at the end furthest from the Pantheon when entering the shop) and take your receipt that has your coffee order to the bar after you’ve paid. There is no seating — you simply drink your coffee and move along so that others can do the same. If you’re looking for a sit down café, go elsewhere and save this for a morning you want to simply have your cup of joe and be on your way to Roman adventures! The friendly and efficient baristas will whip up your seemingly ordinary espresso, but clearly so much more that, in no time flat. I was amazed at how they handled the non-​stop orders each morning. We went early enough that while it was busy (mostly with Italians), it never seemed too crowded and we were always able to find a spot at the bar quite easily. It’s also great to go early to see the Pantheon square without the crowds of people! The pastries looked great here, but were not made in house. I stopped at a different pastry shop in the mornings, but for the price and convenience, it’s probably just as easy to order them here with your coffee.
I 100% recommend buying beans to bring a bit of Italy back home with you. I purchased a bag for myself and after brewing them at home (pour over) was looking up online how to order more! I only wish this were the coffee I drank daily. Tazza certainly knows their stuff when it comes to roasting coffee. This would also make a great souvenir for those coffee lovers in your life.

My friends and I literally came here every morning to get a cappuccino and a bakery item. I’ve also tried the granita and it is AMAZING (just a little bit better than the one at Urth Café in LA). The service is friendly compared to Sant’Eustachio Caffe (who were super snooty by the way).
0,80 euros for a bakery item (love their chocolate and hazelnut croissants), and 1,10 euros for a coffee. If you get there really early (right when they open) they will do latte art!

Leckerer günstiger Café, aber es gibt kaum Sitzgelegenheiten. Wie in den meisten Cafes üblich: an der Kasse bestellen, zahlen und dann mit dem Beleg zum Barista.

Es ist schwierig, in Italien schlechten Espresso zu bekommen. Doch hier habe ich tatsächlich einen der besten gehabt (ich probiere stets Espresso sowie Americano). Allein von der Inneneinrichtung her hat man den Stil der mediterranen Bar der 80er Jahre (wie man sie auch in Südspanien findet) beibehalten und auf Clean-​Chick verzichtet (der Standard-​Modernisierung vieler Bars in Rom).
Das führt dazu, dass die fotowütigen Touristen (sowie wie wir, ich geb’s ja zu ;O)) sich gern hier beim Espressotrinken fotografieren lassen und Tourleiter gerne mal 10 bis 20 Heißgetränke ordern.
Auch hier hat man Geschäftssinn bewiesen und verkauft selbstgeröstete Bohnen im hinteren Bereich (nicht so teuer wie Eustachio, aber immer noch die 20−22-Euro-Marke) sowie Espressokocher und anderen Kleinkram.
Sitzgelegenheiten gibt es kaum, Tische schon gar nicht, würde uach keinen Sinn machen, denn es ist immer so voll, dass man keinen gemütlichen Kaffee trinken könnte.
Aber wenn ich in der Gegend wäre, wäre dies mein Laden für den Espresso to go.
P. S.: Im Sommer ist der gefrorene Espresso mit Sahne sehr zu empfehlen.

Un très bon café et un super rapport qualité-​prix !
Le Tazza d’Oro est resté dans son jus, très années 60, à deux pas du Panthéon. Il est envahi de touristes, mais du côté des prix, rien à déplorer — 2,20 euros pour deux cappucinos, c’est plus qu’honnête !
On y boit debout au comptoir, on né s’attarde pas, mais c’est très bien comme ça !

This was the most enjoyable cup of coffee I had during my two weeks in Italy. And that is saying a lot.
This is one of Rome’s most historic cafes and, filled with locals and tourists alike, it still retains modest prices and a down-​to-​earth vibe. Honestly, I can’t even say if it was the location, the atmosphere, the wide selection of varieties, or the coffee itself that made it enjoy it so much… most likely it was a combination of all of the above.
I ordered a Marocchino, which is espresso topped with a bit of steamed milk and cocoa powder. The drink was served up beautifully, and I thoroughly enjoyed every sip.
In addition to their hot coffees, they also serve coffee granita, a cold, slushy dessert drink, and you can also buy bags of roasted beans.
Being so close to the Pantheon, Tazza d’Oro is a great spot for taking a quick break from sightseeing, and it should be enjoyed as much as a landmark as for its actual coffee. Head to the register and purchase your drink, then secure yourself a spot at the standing bar.

Eine Institution in Rom, nahe des Pantheon und sollte unbedingt besucht werden. Bekannt für das Espresso Eis mit Sahne, den «granita di caffe». Aber auch das Parfait de Caffè ist sehr zu empfehlen. Am besten früh am Vormittag schon vorbeischauen, da ist es noch nicht so überlaufen.
Kleiner Side hint: es wird erst an der Kasse bezahlt und dann mit dem Bön zur Theke gegangen.

Wow, sehr guter Kaffe aus eigener Röstung.
Ein grandioser Cappuccino für 1,10 €, in direkter Nähe zum Pantheon. Links an der Kasse zahlen, rechts bei den Barista bestellen und entweder direkt vor Ort genießen (einige wenige Sitzgelegenheiten gibt es in den Ecken) oder wie schon angemerkt «to go» und ab an den wunderschönen Brunnen!
Allerdings schmeckt der Cappuccino aus vernünftigen Tasse nochmal besser ;-) wer die Wahl hat,…

C’était un des endroits à priori immanquable à Rome, et je suis contente de né pas l’avoir raté. L’odeur du café se fait sentir avant même d’avoir vu le bar.
L’intérieur est assez bien décoré et vous pouvez y acheter du café en grain.
D’ailleurs vous pouvez aussi voir en direct comment ils font le café le café en poudre… très agréable.
A savoir, qu’il faut aller payer au guichet qui est en retrait avant d’aller se faire servir au bar, ca vous évitera de faire la queue pour rien.
J’ai gouté une crème glacé capuccino servi dans un verre à cocktail. C’était juste délicieux… j’en voudrais encore et encore. Donc à tous les amateurs de café, arrêté vous là.

2 kgs de café pour rapporter en France: 1de leur assemblage avec du gout et de la douceur, 1 de pur arabica; du plaisir à l’etat pur!! un acceuil chaleureux, les messieurs qui torréfient ont répondu à mes questions, m’ont donné des explications, et j’ai acheté aussi 2 boites metalliques à leur enseigne pour conserver le café;rien à redire sur les prix un super souvenir.

Spitzen-​Caffè, sehr authentisch und absolut preiswert. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert!

Ce lieu est référencé comme le meilleur endroit pour les capuccino et compte tenu du nombre de clients, on peut dire que cette adresse est réputée. Tout prêt du Panthéon, vous pourrez, au comptoir, déguster un bon café chaud ou glacé et de très bon capuccino.
Un lieu à faire car il mérite un arrêt et il sera sûrement sur votre parcours touristique lors de la visite de Rome.

Die vielleicht authentischste Cafébar in Roma nahe des Pantheon. Wird in vielen Reiseführer gelobt. Touristen gehen hier ebenfalls ein und aus wie der Römer auf dem Weg zum nächsten Termin. Für uns gab es hier den besten Kaffee (Cappuccino 1,10 EUR).

Man ist am Pantheon, der Duft vom frisch gerösteten Kaffe steigt in die Nase. Hier bestellt man sich aber nicht nur einen Espresso, man soll UNBEDIGT eine Granita di caffé con panna kosten!!!

Hin da, wenn du Kaffeefan bist und wissen willst, wie wirklich guter Kaffee schmecken muss. Vergiss all die Touristenfallen am Panthéon und vernichte keine 14 EUR für nen Kaffee oder Tee (Tasse!), nur weil du direkt vor dem Panthéon sitzt. Komm um die Ecke und genieße das exzellente Preis-​Leistungs-​Verhältnis. Übrigens: Den Kaffee gibts auch abgepackt zum Mitnehmen.

Ich kann mich nur anschließen. Der Preis ist absolut der Hammer, und der Geschmack und die Qualität die Bombe. Das gibt es gar nicht. Der Kaffee und Espresso werden direkt im Haus geröstet. Der Duft zieht durch das gesamte Café.
Bevor man in dem Genuss eines echt spitzenmäßig schmeckenden Espressos kommt, zahlt man an einem extra Schalter, geht mit dem Bön zur Bar und bekommt mit eine Wahrscheinlichkeit von 99,5% den besten Espresso oder Cappuccino, den man jemals getrunken hat bzw. trinken wird.
FAZIT: Wenn man im Pantheon ist, dann unbedingt mal um die Ecke schauen. In 30 Sekunden hat man das Café erreicht. Probiert es einfach aus.

Leckerster Espresso der Stadt, und das direkt beim Pantheon. Den Vorrat für zu Hause kann man sich dort auch gleich besorgen, wird frisch gemahlen.

Ein wirklich spitzenmässiger Espresso bzw. Kaffee ist hier zu bekommen. Dazu bekommt man auch noch eine herrliche Aussicht was möchte man mehr. Es lohnt sich.

Wann immer ich in Rom bin kehre ich hier ein, um einen sagenhaft leckeren Caffè Freddo mit Blick auf das Pantheon zu genießen…

Si on veut se regaler avec un café superbe, on doit aller içi, près du Pantheon. Vous pouvez gouter aussi la «granita di caffé con panna», une glacé au café avec de la crème fouettée. Fantastique.

Petit mais costaud
Le meilleur café de Rome? Peut être ! Faites comme les Romains et allez payer à la caisse qui trôné au fond de la salle votre «espresso». Pour la modique somme de 80 cts vous allez pouvoir pénétrer le monde magique du véritable caffé à l’italienne. Le nectar servi est divin, subtil, doux mais en même temps puissant… Du beau monde qui se bouscule le long de l’immense comptoir. Pour un touriste, une des meilleures manières d’approcher la philosophie transalpine… Un espresso per favore !

Besonders der Granita di caffè ist ein Hochgenuss, man wird regelrecht süchtig. Schon aus einer beträchtlichen Entfernung bemerkt man den intensiven Duft des Cafés.
Alle Kaffeespezialitäten sind von hoher Qualität und schmecken fantastisch. Die Lage in der Nähe des Pantheons ist grandios. Die Kaffeebohnen kann man auch online bestellen!

Sagenhaft guter Kaffee, aber der ist in Rom eigentlich fast überall gut. Und wie überall zahlt man auch hier nur 80 Cent für einen Espresso, und für einen Super-​Capuccino 1 Euro!!!
When in Rome do like the Romans, man trinkt Kaffee eben im Stehen, bzw. bezahlt VORHER an der Kasse, nimmt seinen Zettel und holt das Getränk ab. Wo man es dann trinkt ist eigentlich egal, dann kannn man sich auch hinsetzen, wo man will, aber teuer ist ein Wort, das tutti kompletti falsch ist, wenn man an Kaffee und Italien denkt!
Zurück hier im Städtchen könnte ich mich bei Gedanken an Kaffee geradezu übergeben, nicht nur weil es hier nirgendwo ähnliche Qualität gibt, sondern weil als Ausgleich dafür aber das 3 – 5 fache kostet.

Für Kaffee-​Fans wahrlich eines der besten Cafés der Stadt! Allerdings muß man auch bereit sein, etwas mehr auf den Tresen des Haues zu legen. Die Atmosphäre in der Goldenen Tasse ist jedenfalls wunderbar, die Lage einmalig.
Die Baristi geben alles und das Italien-​Feeling ist wirklich perfekt.

Einen der besten Cappuccinos der Stadt. Sitzen könnt ihr in dem Café zwar nicht, aber bestellt doch einfach un cappuccino a portar via (to go) und setzt euch vor den Brunnen auf dem schönsten Platz der Welt

A deux pas du Panthéon, profitez de la visite pour vous arrêter y déguster l’un des meilleurs café du monde. Facile à trouver car il suffi de suivre l’envoutante odeur de café chaud: il prépare le café depuis le grain vert jusque dans votre tasse! Petit rappel en Italie on paye à la caisse puis on va au bar pour commander.
Le seul défaut est l’absence de terrasse donc au beaux jours préférez le café du panthéon.

Un local dedicado principalmente a la venta de café para uso propio, aunque también lo puedes tomar allí. Destaca la variedad de degustacion gratuita que ofrecen para que puedes comprar y saborear cafés de sabor y aromas nuevos. El precio del grano es razonable y la calidad muy alta, sin duda los amantes del café disfrutaran del lugar
