Warm and cozy atmosphere. The food and service were very good. We started with a simple antipasti and house wines. I chose the roast pork(maialino al forno) and hubby opted for spaghetti alla carbonara. Both were very good, very fresh. Nice for couples to large family groups(up to 16?). They also have a few outside tables.

In our eating quest in Rome we always make sure there are locals going into a place first and always stay away from the tourist looking places. What a find!!! It was the best dish of pasta I have ever eaten in my life. Its a no frills place with a nice menu selection, we ordered the meals of the day, pasta with veal and a vegetable… I couldn’t get enough of the pasta — the veal was perfectly roasted and the roasted vegetables were full of flavor. Bread… so good. The house red wine was great and the servers even spoke a little English. I hope I can go back there again before I leave this city :)

Oh my… where do I begin from? The first evening we arrived in Rome, we walked around aimlessly in hopes of bumping in to a restaurant. We sure did. We noticed da Loreto. The owner, Loreto although barely spoke any English was super nice and warm. I felt like my old loving uncle was cooking for me. Besides the warm and excellent customer service, the food was superb. I thought I’d have many more good restaurant experiences in the next 15 days I was going to spend in Italy but nothing came remotely close to my experience at da Loreto. The bread(complimentary) was to die for, the bruschetta was super delicious. The best thing was the spicy olive oil that was on the table. I couldn’t get enough of it. The second time we went there I asked Loreto if I could get a bottle to go. Since I couldn’t communicate with him, I wondered how much he’d charge me for it. Well, guess what? He didn’t charge me at all. During our 4-day stay in Rome, we went there twice. I wish I had gone everyday. We took some pictures with Loreto. After we got back, every time we showed the pictures to friends, my husband would point to Loreto saying jokingly«and this is the man my wife was willing to leave me for». Loreto, you rock!
