Our first evening in Rome, jetlagged and hangry, we stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant on the street just a few blocks from our flat. Like a delicious mirage. We sat outside, enjoyed some very reasonable priced house wine, and had cacio e pepe for the first time. It was excellent, and in retrospect I’d put it up against all the other cacio e pepes we ate while in Rome. Friendly and fast service, reasonable prices, and a nice atmosphere. Seriously, sit outside when it’s weather permitting. It’s really lovely.

While studying abroad, I lived in Monteverde. This restaurant was my favorite place in Monteverde and where I would go to treat myself every once and a while. The two guys that seem to run the show are fun and lively, and they are extremely knowledgable when it comes to food and wine. I had some of my favorite wines and definitely some of my best meals at this restaurant. I would suggest you go with the daily specials when you go. There’s a reason they’re specials, and the food is very fresh. That being said, their carbonara was also my favorite carbonara I had in Italy, so if you’re only going there once, you may need to go with that option. I had a really good ravioli, scallops, pastas, and shrimp off of their specials menu in my time in Rome. This is definitely a locals place, and it can be hard to get seats, as the restaurant is quite small. Highly recommended for anyone in the area, and having a little bit of Italian background would definitely be helpful as the guys running this place don’t speak much English.
