The food was very good but the service was sub par. Our waiter did not want to make any alterations to the food but when we talked the the host, she had no problem doing what we asked. We ordered pizza and the ravioli with spinach. The pizza was very oily– you could taste the olive oil on the pizza and it dripped off when I picked it up. The portions are somewhat small for the price.

Very good food. Portions are big enough. After eating you will be fine not extremely full. We had lasagna and pizza. Both were excellent! Lasagna have very tasty sauce and a lot of cheese. Good balance of spices. Also I would say that design of the restaurant is nice. We had wonderful time. Waiters are friendly.

Awful. Doesn’t even deserve the one star I gave it. My husband and I were starving after an early morning of travel to arrive in Rome near lunch time. We had an appointment nearby at 3:00 and this place was 5 stars on Unilocal. They looked busy but we thought that it being 2:03 we’d have plenty of time for a pizza. We ordered two cokes and two pizzas at 2:10. At 2:47 we had received no food. Several tables came in AFTER us and we’re served very similar orders within 10 – 15 minutes while we sat there with nothing, wondering why. I kept looking at our waitress and she didn’t seem concerned. My husband finally pulled the plug and flagged her down and said we could wait no longer and were leaving. She then looked panicked and said, «two minutes!!» while signaling to the guy cooking pizzas in the back. We said sorry, we can’t wait any longer we have somewhere to be. Then while we were gathering our coats she actually brought us the bill for our two cokes! I’m sorry, I used to wait tables, hostess, and then managed a restaurant and this was not acceptable. My husband and I only had big bills so we piled our change into the check book and left. Better luck to others eating here. The décor was nice and everyone else’s lunches looked great.

It was a rainy night in Rome but I was so hungry so I went out anyway. That being said I knew that I would not be venturing too far from the bed and breakfast in which I was staying. I passed a few places that looked interesting but what appealed about Zigateana as I approached the restaurant was that I saw several local couples enter. Usually that’s a good sign for good authentic food when it’s popular by the local residents and not just the tourists. I entered and from the top of the stairs you could see the entire restaurant. There was a large wood fired oven in the back of the restaurant, the lights were dim and the tables were filled with small groups and couples chatting and eating. I felt like I had made a good choice. I was seated in the middle of the restaurant with a view of the whole place. I perused the menu and there were so many options. I was having difficulty choosing one so I asked my server about a few. She suggested the spaghetti with swordfish and zucchini flowers as the preferred choice from the options I was considering. At her suggested that is what I ordered. When the bowl of pasta was delivered, it looked like a work of art. When I taste it, it was good. The sauce was light yet full of flavor. The swordfish was cubed, flaky and dispersed throughout. The dish was filling and delicious. I did not order dessert but the table next to me did and they looked amazing. They must have taste amazing too because they both cleared their plates. Had I not been full or had someone to share it with, I would have definitely ordered one after seeing the options my neighbors selected. This was a great refuge from the cold and rain. I enjoyed my meal and my dining experience.

Great casual restaurant with reasonable prices(dishes all mostly under 10 euros). Great place to stop after shopping in the area or visiting the Vatican. We ordered the tuna salad which was large and delicious and filled us with much needed greens after a long time on the road and on a pasta and pizza and steak only diet. We also ordered the vegetarian pizza that was great(but note it doesn’t have tomato sauce as a base). See the pictures for the food! Free WiFi Service friendly but a bit slow because under staffed a bit

Good Roma pizza. The amber ale was quite good as well. But try the deserts. We had the strawberry millefoglie, zuppa insglese, soffice al cioccolato were excellent. Service was a bit slow but we were there on a busy night. Staff were friendly.
