In small town Italy, bread is still baked fresh every morning and as people shop for their daily groceries, a stop at the local bakery is always on the list, as by that night the bread is stale. This little bakery is located on the small road leading down from the main piazza, at the right side of the cathedral. Bread is usually one of the first things people get during their shopping, as they try to only bake as much as they need to the day, and as the morning draws out, they often run out. So get here early for fresh, warm bread. While you are here, you will also see large sheets of white pizza(focaccia). This is a simple pizza with olive oil, salt and rosemary. It is a type of pizza that you ONLY get in the morning, and ONLY at the local bakeries… and it is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C !! They will also often have some with tomato sauce, some with olives baked in, and several other varieties. But the simple white pizza(Pizza Bianca) is a true staple of Italian life that should never be missed!
