I have to admit i was rather suspicious after Reading the first review. I kinda just fell into this place. But honestly. The food was fantastic. The service was excellent and a whole lunch including a aranciata and a coffee afterwards for 15,50 € is absolutely okay. On request they even brought olive oil and peperoncino(which were quite hot. The good stuff!) and i could pay with credit card. Yes, the outdoor seating is aluminium chairs, but its nice and neat in that little corner outside with plants and stuff. So who cares?!

How are the mighty fallen! Since 1921 Trattoria all’Oca Bianca has been one of Treviso’s institutions. In the 1960’s it was the focal meeting place of Trevisian Bohemia. Writers such as Giovanni Comisso and Goffredo Parise, the artist Arturo Malossi, Alfredo Beltrame and a number of other famous Trevisian personalities used to meet in the trattoria. Today, only the memories linger. Luigi sadly is an aging shadow of the young man who inherited his Aunt Nerina’s great kitchen. Locals have deserted the place and only, it seems, the unwary tourist ventures in. It was Monday night when many restaurants are closed, so I thought I’d give it a chance as the menu still looks inviting, as does the cosy interior. The open air seating however consists of horrid aluminium chairs and tables, light as feathers, that wobble and buckle beneath you. Being one of only about 12 covers, I was shown straight to a table, and as is my custom I ordered a glass of wine and some water for immediate consumption. Luigi pottered back and forth, laying up a table for six. The waitress disappeared. 10 minutes later I was still waiting; the waitress reappeared, Luigi disappeared; she said her colleague was preparing my drinks. Luigi took a napkin to a nearby table; I caught his eye with a friendly gesture, and he disappeared, only to re-emerge with a basket of bread for the same table. 25 minutes later, having given my order for food to the waitress meanwhile, I told them I was leaving as 25 minutes was an unacceptable wait for a glass of wine. The only comment I received was you are not the only customer in the restaurant. Obviously I cannot comment on the food from this visit, though the last time I ate there 3 years ago it was very average. With all the delights available in Treviso, you don’t need to go to a place like this.
