Fantastic. Nothing more is really needed but this was the best dining experience in 3 days on Venice. Yes it was expensive but the value for money, food and service outweighed the slightly higher prices. The place is modern in design and experience. The beef tenderloin melted in my mouth. It’s down a few back streets away from San Marco and all the tourists. It was quite when we went but the only other people were locals and those in the know. Put this on your Venezia list and you won’t be disappointed.

unreal. This was the most modern restaurant we dined at in Venezia. It was a 5 star experience for food and service. The restaurant is super enchanting with dim gas lit chandeliers and candles everywhere. Our favorites were the meat/cheese board, potatoes mousse with Tuscan sausage, and carbonara. There was nothing that we would change about any dish. The were plated beautifully and tasted even better than they looked(if that’s even possible) would highly recommend to anyone. After dinner we caught a late night gondola right that pulled up right to the restaurant. Amaze!

We were in Venice for a while and this place was so incredible! I had some whipped potato and sausage appetizer(I know it doesn’t sound good) that was so yummy I almost cried. Then the chateaubriand was hands down the absolute best I have ever had! I literally ate at this place 3 days in a row. I would go back to Venice just to have dinner at café centrale

Tolles, stylisches Ambiente, aber trotz kaum besetzter Tische war das Personal überfordert: der eine Kellner nimmt die Bestellung des Desserts auf, zwei andere kommen ein Paar Minuten später und wollen das Gedeck für das Dessert wieder abräumen, trotz mehrfacher Nachfrage kommt statt Roséwein Roséprosecco und auf die Rechnung haben wir über eine halbe Stunde warten müssen, da wir vergessen wurden. Der ansprechende Gastraum wird außerdem so lautstark mit schlechter Chartmusik beschallt, dass keine schöné Stimmung aufkommt. Das Essen war okay und dem hohen Preisniveau gerade noch angemessen. Die Menükarten wurden durch iPads ersetzt, die aber leider ständig Fehlermeldungen produzierten und den Kellner zur Verzweiflung brachten und uns nervten, zumal alles unübersichtlich geraten ist. Insgesamt mehr Schein als Sein.

I had been agonising over the decision about where to go for the last night of our honeymoon and went back and forth to Caffe Centrale’s web site and various review sites. Other reviews were so mixed, I was so confused but wanted something a little more than pizza and pasta so went with my gut(ha) and booked us in. I emailed ahead to inform them of our occasion and I’m glad I did, they had us purchased on the alfresco dining spot, absolutely the best seat in the house. I did a bit of emailing ahead to restaurants to inform them we were on our honeymoon, as painful as that would be for the restaurants it’s our honeymoon! Some responded with a lovely welcome, a couple of glasses of champage or, in the case of a restaurant in Vegas a candle with ‘happy anniversary’ hmmm. This was one of the nicest honeymoon treats, what a spot! As we watched the tourists float past on the hundreds of gondola’s, I felt famous, people were waving, snapping our photo and more than once I heard ‘wow what’s that, I want to go there’. I could see the jealousy in all those eyes and I felt pretty amazingly special. The waiters were appropriately attentive, I’ve heard others say they felt a lack of service but for us, it was perfect. Too often we have wanted drawn out long dinners only to have the waiters hover over our plate and snatch it away as we have our last mouthful on the fork. The menu is on an ipad and could be difficult to navigate if you are searching for entrée, main, dessert but we were up for a bit of this and a bit of that so it suited us fine. Plenty of foams and gels in this dinner, but all were tasty and there wasn’t too much on each plate. Our egg and asparagus flat bread with paprika was a nice start but the highlights were the octopus terrine with mash and the cappuccino potato foam with shrimp. Dessert was a deconstructed tiramisu pudding, tasty but not as good as some of the traditional tiramisus we have enjoyed. Very well priced, elegant, Italian with a twist. If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary away from the traditional tourist haunts, head here.
