If you’re not in Venice too long(really there’s no need to be there any longer than 2 days), do yourself a favor and stay at the Hotel Manin and cough up the extra bucks to get a nice«suite», a larger(though not extravagant) sized room overlooking the Grand Canal. On our honeymoon my wife and I «splurged» for our one night stay there and had a room right on the canal with a view of the Ponte Rialto. It was August but there was a beautiful breeze coming off the water so we didn’t need air conditioning. We found the(mostly Moroccan) staff to be very friendly and helpful. The concierge is somewhat helpful. I just like to explore and sniff out authentic places myself. The continental breakfast in the morning is typically Italian, so stick to your espresso and toast with butter and marmellata. Then enjoy exploring the alleys and canals of Venice. Getting back to this place at night can be challenging, but isn’t that part of the fun?

250 pm and we are waiting for room to be cleaned still. Have been out since 8am and want to take showers before heading out to dinner but can’t. Staff is very slow and unresponsive to concerns. Especially Angela. Always looks angry. Have been here 3 days already and she never smiles.
