Traveled to Japan from America and where does my Japanese friend want to take me for dinner? Bubba Gumps(when I asked what my other options were she suggested TGIF, lol she’s so cute). I haven’t been to the Bubba Gumps in America so I can’t compare the two. However, there’s no way it is as overpriced as this one was. We started out with the Delta Sunset hand-shaken margarita(1,030 yen). The entire thing was ice and barely enough to fill 4 Japanese sized glasses. We ended up ordering a second, the Medal Margarita(1,030 yen). Same deal, not as good as the first. 4 glasses of margarita in and I was barely feeling it. My Asian glow made no appearance that night. We shared the Shrimper’s Net Catch(250g for 1,910 yen) and a rice dish with fish on top– I can’t find it on the online menu! My friend has tried all of the Shrimper’s Catch sauces and says the garlic sauce is the best. I think she was right. The rice dish was a plate of buttered rice with a white fish and spinach on top. The food was good and definitely not something you will find anywhere else in Japan. However, the portions were too small for the prices. Korakuen station or Suidoubashi gets you pretty close to the restaurant. It’s located next to an amusement park and a pretty big mall. Try to snag a seat by the window so you can watch the small lighted fountain show.
