This restaurant inside Yaechika is an interesting mix of Spanish food (with some other European foodstuffs thrown in, including notably Italian), some of which has a local Japanese twist.
The restaurant had a signboard outside advertising their cheese selection which is what drew our large party in. To get to the point there, the cheese selection was reasonable, with our table focusing on the blue cheese selection, although nothing that would repel sensitive Japanese tastes. In other words, cheese could have been stronger. Portions were quite small.
While the drink menu advertised sparkling wine cocktails that most of our table imbibed in, there were two Japanese craft beers on the menu and I focused on the wheat beer from Tochigi prefecture. It was quite good, with a decent amount of carbonation, and a very light mildly sweet taste with fruity notes.
The food itself was nothing spectacular. Some soft-​shell shrimp that while tasty, were overpowered by the oily broth they were cooked in – although it had a decent touch of heat. Some bread came with it that was decent. The homemade pickles were quite good, and the accompanying three (!) olives had very little brine taste. My Japanese colleagues kept complaining about the small portion sizes – coming from them, who hardly that says something.
The oysters were decent. Very briny, seawater flavor with all of them and the meat was free of debris and quite soft.
