I visited Sun Plaza Bldg several times to participate in the text reading lessons two years ago. Fureai Hall is housed in this bldg where various exhibitions of applied art works or photos are held. The photo exhibition of abandoned animals is now in session(through 28th, January, 2015). The photographs of dogs, cats, and rabbits looking for new owners are displayed here. Osaka pref. has undertaken this transfer project for approx. 25 years. Hirakata city also has started it this year. The transfer procedure and the DVD for prospective owners are shown here. In Osaka the number of transferred animals was more than 6,000 last year. It is estimated to be only 10% of the whole number that new owners took over the pets. If the abandoned pets cannot see new owners, do you know how their doom is? They are sent to Dream Box in Public Health Centers. Dream Box? What kind of box is it? Do you imagine that it is full of hope, pleasure and happiness? Never! It is far from one’s imagination. It is a box of sorrow, pain and despair. Abandoned pets are struggling to escape and crying out, «Scary, scary, help me, help me!!» in the box full of carbon monoxide gas. Finally they die of poisoning in a few minutes. Does their scream reach us? They are killed in approximately one week after they are sent to Public Health Centers. Abandoned dogs remind me of my childhood. When I was a kindergarten kid, I had been pursued by an abandoned dog once. At that time a vendor came to our new town and sold vegetables and groceries in a vacant place close to my house. Housewives nearby flocked there, around where I was suddenly pursued by the dog. I ran to escape from the dog, shouting«help me, help me!!» However none except my mother rescued me. Although I had such a terrible experience, I cannot hate or dislike dog. I love dog. Dog has no sin. Instead, I would like to ask the ex-owner. Why did you part from your dog? Why didn’t you keep the dog in a proper way? I heard that abandoned pets are not killed in Germany. There seems to be numerous numbers of shelters protecting the lives of animals and looking for new owners. I think it an amazing project! If you are interested in keeping one as your pet, come here by all means. Admission free and it opens from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.(on the last day until 5:00 p.m.). A person who wants to look for the missing pet can put a poster(including the picture of your pet) in the place. If you feel my review is pushy, I’m sorry. I would like to consider a problem not your problem but our problem. What I can do is just trifle. But if everyone does even small things for our society and tries to tackle social problems, our society will change for better than only one influential person does something great. I really hope no one(of course including animals or other creatures) will shed tears for sadness.
