The closest beach to my parents’ house in Japan is Suma beach. So when it comes to sea bathing, I went swimming(I am a bad swimmer but love swimming) in this Suma beach in Kobe. However I am sorry to say that it was notorious for muddy beach. I saw sun oil or dusts floating in the water. The more westward you go, the more beautiful the beach is. So the beach around Maiko is cleaner and more transparent than that of Suma. However this beach is popular from the youth to families. Colorful and fashionable seaside cottages stand side by side in such a way as getting rid of the image of former simple seaside cottages. I’ve never seen such fashionable seaside cottages in other beaches. I felt as if I went to the urban café. Fireworks, barbecues, or marine activities such as surfing or water bikes are banned. Some events like beach volley are held on the seaside. Follow the manners and let’s enjoy bathing in the beach!
