Very local and it might look that there are nothing interesting here as not much shops are opened, but it has several funky and amazing shops, and I like this place as it is easy to feel the humane feelings among this small cozy shopping arcade. I will point out three things that is worth to see. 1. Real local atmosphere of the elder society of Kyoto It’s quite common to see the Teramachi or Shinkyogoku shopping area prospering. But at the same time there are places like this Furukawa-cho Center, that has elder as majority of the shop owner. People here are very friendly and close to each other. And its easy to see usual life here. I live near here but people in this arcade are very warm if you keep on visiting them. 2. Traditional Japanese food shop The shop called«Waki Shoten» is actually serving for Izakaya(Japanese bar) as their food are amazing. It cost more than other supermarkts and food shops, but the taste are strong and well cooked, and there are various types of traditional local dish. I became close with the lady there that sometimes she gives me some extra dishes for free. Also the shop called«Tanaka» is a new kelp shop that is fun to see how the traditional Japanese food base are made from many types of kelp(Konbu in Japanese). 3. Traditional sweets shop for adults There is a sweets shop called«Murawo-Higashi sando». You might not notice how special this shop is unless you go inside the shop. They have«Erotic sweets» and«47 position art cracker»(I can’t upload the photo as there are sensor ships… sorry). An old man is running this shop but there are also many cute panda chocolates, and other children friendly sweets and traditional sweets there. Most of the people pass by this arcade, but there are many things that is worth to see. There are shops that I could not mention here but most of the shop owners have interesting and long experience in Kyoto. Just for a tip, there is a nice river that runs near. Sometimes you will see some duckling swimming after the mother duck during spring till summer.
