I’m a picky eater when it comes to fried food. Greasy, calorie bombs — how often is it truly worth it? Jeju black pig tonkatsu though, I will make an exception. My husband and I came for an early dinner and two of their specials had already sold out! We ultimately opted for black pig loin(filets out) and mixed combo(shrimp, scallop, mushroom, and regular pork loin). While both served with unlimited rice and miso soup, my husband’s initial order came with a premium soup(with beef, carrots, and parsnips) and additional pickled sides. Both Tonkatsu dishes were perfectly panko crusted and deep fried. Not only were they not one bit greasy, they stayed beautifully crunchy until the very last bite! Beyond delish! The Jeju black pig loin was much more tender and leaner compared to my normal pork loin — Definitely worth the splurge! Overall — If it wasn’t for the unlimited soup and rice, I would say the portion is definitely on the smaller side — I still felt somewhat hungry after polishing my combo! A great option in Kyoto station!

Came across this restaurant at the kyoto station. We were really hungry and didn’t want to venture out of kyoto station look for a restaurant. Restaurant had good pork tonkatsu. Crispy on the outside yet really tender on the inside. Side dishes were also good. This place had good katsu. Hoping they actually had more items including curry for the future.

My entire meal was so satisfying. You’d never think a place inside a train station would be so delicious if it were anywhere but Japan. I ordered the roast tonkatsu meal with rice, miso, and pickles. All of it was great. You can choose a regular sauce, or their recommended sauce. Their sauce was really good and to me seemed lighter tasting. Meal was about 1200 yen including a soda.
