Food is pretty good and relatively cheap. Menu was translated well in English and all of the waiters were fluent which made it easy to order. Mains were on the small side so would recommend about 5 – 6 dishes for 4 people. Japanese(ie: sitting on the floor) and Western seating available.

The food is okay good and relatively cheap! However, not a lot of fancy variety xD it has an outdoors that’s pretty tho Edit: be warned: there’s a cover charge of ¥300 per person in this restaurant.

Pontocho street is the place to be on a hoppin Kyoto night. With lots of patios facing the Kamo river, we were surprised to find this place with prices significantly lower than the competition. The portions sizes matched the price which I actually thought was a good thing because I got to try more stuff on the menu. I ended up with the eggplant at the sashimi platter, both were delicious. Gorgeous views, an English menu, and fantastic staff. Highly recommend.

Located at the famous Pontocho street, Mimasuya(not Mimasuya Italiano, btw) offers delicious modernized Japanese cuisine. Some may say that this is a place for tourist, perhaps that is true, but I don’t really care as long as the food tasted good and price were reasonable. Mimasuya, in my opinion, met both criteria. This may sound weird and provincial, but for the folks like me who unfortunately can’t speak Japanese, many staff here could speak English. I will honestly tell you that it was very relaxing to dine here after a week of mostly relying on google translate to figure out what the dishes might be and ordering by finger-pointing and hand-gesturing.
