Came here last week with wife and son. We were in Japan on vacation and we wanted to experience the cat café. 1000 yen for an hour of cat time per person seems steep but we came away satisfied. Initially, there was a strong litter box smell but you got desensitized to it after a short while. I guess with the large number of cats, you can’t really avoid this. When we went around 2:30 pm, several cats were in the middle of their unionized afternoon cat nap, but there were enough of them to play and interact with. They charge extra 200 yen for a small small bag of cat treats. I ordered an iced coffee drink which was underwhelming. Cats were playful and loved having their hind quarters patted. One lady sat on the floor with a cat between her legs and she must have patted down the cat for a good 30 min. Apparently the cats are used to it. We were told that alp the cats here are rescued strays. Go for the cats, but not for the drinks.

This was the best birthday I’ve ever had. To my delight the ladies at the café push the cats in your direction so they come closer to you. One lady made the cat get on my husbands legs and it napped on him for a long time. Also these cats love being slapped around(on the bum/back area). The cats I’m use to don’t love that so much but if you want one of these ones to stay and cuddle you than get to slapping its bum. The signage for the café isn’t very good. When you see the little sign you go down the hallway and hang a left than take the elevator up to the next floor and you will see the entrance.

I stumbled onto the Cat Café one night while walking in Kyoto. Couldn’t pass up a visit. The kitties were lovely… and it was a fun and relaxing visit. The people who work there are nice, too.

I’ve been there once with my sister and once with a friend who loved cats. Every time you enter the café, first you take off your shoe and then wait for the clerk. When you are able to go inside, you will need to wash your hands, then choose the time and drink, put your luggage in the locker. Then finally the cat paradise! My sister and I have never had a cat in our life so when we were there, we didn’t know how to attract the cats. So we just kept on taking picture of the cats. And one hours was just enough for us as we hadn’t bought the cat snack nor the toys we used were not working. But when I went with a friend who knew about cats, it was then more fun. Patients, patients and another patients, then finally a cat started to play with us. She was really cute and adorable. As I saw some other people who where in the café, there were couples, friends, and single person who were enjoying their time with the cats. So if you like cats and know how to deal with them its fun. If not Patients will be a key word…
