Had lunch at this great little pizzeria near Nishiki. It’s limited for space with only a couple staff tending to max. 15 customers(3 tables + counter seats), but that means you get to watch each pizza being made and then baked in a large stone oven one by one right in front of you. Although i can’t speak to the other items on their limited lunch menu, the margherita i had was one of the best i’ve had in Kyoto, perhaps Japan. Lunch pizzas come with a drink and cost 800,1000(margherita), and up.

I’ve used Unilocal for years but was never a member, until now. I joined to write a positive review of this restaurant. They produce a very good quality Neapolitan pizza, better than most I tolerate in the states. If I find myself in Kyoto again I will seek this place out.

One of my favorite foods is Pizza! Especially pizzas grilled in the stone-oven are awesome! I happened to find this Napoli pizza specialty when humbling around Nishiki Market. It is not located along the market, but very close to it. This rectangular-shaped tiny restaurant has no more than two or three tables and counter seats. I was able to see the pizza baked by the chef in front. A burning hot pizza arrived at me soon! Pizza was crispy and acidity of tomato sauce worked well, but something wrong or ill-balanced. Oh, dear! Gagagaga-n! This is because there was no cheese. A drink and a pizza were included in 800 yen of the lunch course that I ordered. But I was told that cheese was not contained in a pizza. Cheese sometimes causes my head ache. So I supposed that it would be OK without any cheese. However, pizza without cheese is like coffee without creap(old CM says). Besides pizza, you can order other delis such as croquette, others I forgot. An elderly male customer next to me enjoyed pizza with wine(additional fare is needed). Very chic man! I have grilled pizza several times at home, but I have no stone oven. I would like to use one to grill a pizza by myself.
