Bengal red wall of this shop was very stylish, and was outstanding conspicuously. I mistook this building for a modern Japanese inn, but knew for the first time that it was the shop which handled Buddhist altar fittings. A pure white Noren or cotton curtain was hanged on the entrance. I opened the sliding door of the wooden frame. Décor was also stylish. I was impressed by the high sensibility of the female owner. Not only rosaries but also bracelets, incense sticks of natural raw materials, incense stands with monthly cute illustrations, or other small articles are placed. This neighborhood said Kamijyuzuyacho(jyuzu means rosary), and the shops which deal in rosaries or Buddhist altar fittings were spotted around the area. This is because two big temples of Nishi Honganji and Higashi Honganji stand. Various colors of special thick threads used for making rosaries are displayed near the cashier. I asked the owner whether I might touch it, but she declined my offer. The stylish female storekeeper knit beads eagerly. Tailor-make beads and a bracelet, or repair is also available. As soon as I left the shop, I discovered mosquito-repellent incense on my foot. I was glad for its hearty consideration of the shop owner.
