A great place to get some tasty German beer on draft. Dinner: about ¥5000 per person Reservations: recommended, but not difficult. This place is quite unique in Tokyo. Outdoor seating X Craft beer on tap X Quality food Getting this combination right is quite challenging in Tokyo. Of course there are plenty of those beer gardens specially on top of the department stores, but those places often only offer Kirin, Sapporo, or Asahi beer — boring! In fact if you are not careful, those beer garden or outdoor BBQ places may not be serving beer. What?!? BEER garden not serving beer? Despite the fact that they call it beer? Yes some places serve happo-shu, which is fake beer(distilled liquor). It is a way for alcoholic bev companies to avoid Japanese beer tax. I am sure that such fake beer would be outlawed in Germany. Back to フランツィスカーナー. This place does not serve happo-shu, so no worries. They serve REAL beer! Not only is it real, it is tasty beer. Not only that, it is served on tap! Boy, writing this review is making me thirsty. By the way, it is Friday night and I am writing a review about beer, rather than drinking beer. What is wrong with me? Food: Order their sausages. What else do you really need with great beer? Their pizza is surprisingly good, but stick to various sausages that they offer. Tip: The best part about this German beer restaurant is their outdoor patio seating, so pick a nice day to visit. Avoid this place during Japan’s rainy season(tsuyu). With that said, their indoor seats are pretty nice as well.

Not bad. Came here to rest my feet after walking around roppongi. They have a pretty decent selection of German beers and food. I got a spaten and a pretzel. The pretzel was a little smaller then I’m used to at a German place but it was nice and warm. Beer was cold and good. Came in a special spaten mug which was cool. They had an outside area which was nice too.
