I’m absolutely not a fan of Pineapple desserts or anything with pineapple toppings like Hawaiian Pizza’s but on this rare occasion my venture into Sunny Hills for the free cake and tea set may have changed my mind~. The unique wood architecture both in and out is simply beautiful. Staff at the entrance will guide you to the 2nd floor where a huge table is shared among those feasting on the free Taiwanese pineapple cake and free tea. I ordered the free set and it came in a tray with a wet tissue, regular tissue, cake and tea. Opened up the pineapple package and took a bit… hmm… yum… the outside was thick like a cookie/biscuit and the inside pineapple had a great chewy texture. I was watching the other customers enjoying their cake and every one of them bought the 1,500yen or 3,000yen boxed pineapples prior to leaving… oh my… do I have to buy something now? So after I was done I went to the register with my wallet open asking how much my Pineapple/Tea set was all the while knowing it was free. Then the register guy said its free and there is no pressure to buy anything… he was super cool so I said my thank you’s and left. Definitely worth the trip if you are in Omotesando.
