It’s a gas station… not sure why it’s not labeled as Mobil Oil, because it is but maybe that has something to do with the franchise agreement. Anyway, although there is an attendant on site, nearly all of the gas pumps are self-service. That’s good because savings are passed along to the customer. Pay by credit card, proprietary card or cash. There are several ways to get discounts: — Get a members discount card(free) — Use the discount bar code from your last visit — save those receipts!(The bar code is printed on the bottom) — Use the promotional barcode from your convenience store receipt(Note: As of Nov. 2014, 7 – 11 stores are offering ¥100 off your gas purchase. Scan the code at the pump to get the discount) — Use the combo member/credit card — Other spot promotions You can also order a car wash at the same time as putting in your gas order. There’s a fully automated machine with several options for basic, with wax, and a super deluxe wax. Unlike other car washes where you drive thru, this one is different: You drive your car onto the platform, and the washing machine moves back and forth over your car. An automated voice system(in Japanese) tells you which steps are being done blow-by-blow, in addition to kindly reminding you of things like roll up your windows, retract the radio antenna, etc. Generally the station is not too crowded, except on weekends, so you’re in and out quickly. It can only be accessed traveling east on Tohachi road, although I have seen some people pull semi-U turns coming from the opposite direction. Not illegal but very dangerous as cars speed on this road! In addition to gasoline, there’s kerosene(for hearing stoves?) at a separate pump, if you have the correct tank for purchase. A simple«waitng» room has vending machines with drinks, and restrooms are also available. Generally clean and efficient, plus fairly good access in and out, not much outstanding to rave about as this is standard in Japan. The trick is figuring out which timing and discounts to use to save the most money.
