When I was in Osaka on vacation, I was really pleased to have gone to Compufunk. You really get the feeling that this is a place run by people who pour all their heart into it, it has a very genuine, laid-back vibe. I first went there just to buy some records. Compufunk is on basement level and there’s a small room where they sell records. They have a nice international selection, with a couple of turntables if you want to listen to anything. When I went to pay for the records I picked up, the guy(I’m guessing Dj Compufunk) and I managed to have a japo-english broken conversation, where he told me about their dj nights in their backroom — as well as the room used as their record store, there is a corridor that leads onto a bar area and a separate backroom where Djs come to play regularly! So, I came back for a dj night and I was not let down! Entrance fee and drinks weren’t expensive at all. Everybody was very nice and helped me understand where the toilets were etc. There weren’t that many people, but I got the feeling they were real aficionados. Really enjoyed myself. I will certainly go back to Compufunk next time I’m in Osaka. The world needs more places like this!
