Great casual place, located at the Osaka Grand Front shopping/office complex, next to Osaka JR Station. The breakfast menu here is out of this world. Coffee is great, one of the best we happened to taste to date. Try it, and you’ll be back for more, i am sure.

A solid selection of both regular and seasonal items. When I buy a baguette the end doesn’t make it home. :D Their baked goods are the best I’ve eaten in Osaka. From their café side: Their burger is really good. The meat of the burger is cooked to a nice medium rare. The toppings were fresh and the mayo and mustard were generous. Their eggs Benedict is good, but not great. The drinks are always delicious. The lemonade was a nice balance of sweet and sour. The blended tea drinks have a nice balance of flavors without being overly sweet.

Real nice spot with delicious food and pricey yet fresh and tasty drinks. Scrumptious cookies, muffins and cakes and located in one of the newest shopping areas in Umeda. THECITYBAKERY in Grand Front Osaka is a great place to meet up with and meet(as in «Hi my name is…») people as well. Solid place to pass the time… The City Bakery is a cool spot.

Delicious fresh out of the oven pastries and pretzels! The lounge area is nice to work or sit but you’ll need to bring your own wifi because they don’t have any! :) the americanos are strong and its fun to people watch here. Love it!

I was maybe a little too excited to find out The City Bakery has a branch in Osaka. This café is located in the basement area and I was worried it would take away from the atmosphere but because of the predominantly glass walls, there’s plenty of natural lighting to complement the chic interior. While the menu and pastries are on the pricey side, they are worth every yen. They ring up café menu items and bakery items at separate registers, which I thought was interesting. Also, if you want to sit in the café, feel free to grab a seat first and put your stuff down before going to order food/get pastries. I had had had to grab a pretzel croissant, because, City Bakery. Come on. The salty thick pretzel-y outside contrasts perfectly with the buttery airy croissant inside. I was very happy to find out that the pretzel croissant here is consistent with the one in NYC. So. Good. I also got a croque monsieur, delicious creamy cheese between bread with an actual bite to it. Love the contrast ^^ Also! I came in February which is Hot Chocolate Festival month, where The City Bakery does a variety of flavor variations of their already fantastic hot chocolate. The Friday I came was Ginger. The ginger flavor wasn’t overwhelming, and was a great addition to the chocolate. I got a «mini» size. In NYC, they will hand out samples of the hot chocolate, but for those of you who really want to try it before committing, you can also ask for a sample here(like I did. Didn’t want to commit to a Ginger Hot Choc before knowing what it was like ^^;) Totally made my day. :) Staff are all very friendly. Oh! Important point– they have a variety of seats– two tops, chintzy couch seats, and a large communal table. The great thing about the communal table is that there is an abundance of outlets, which I find to be a rare sometimes in Japanese cafes. Edit: Came and got the burger. Fantastic, juicy, flavorful, and filling.
