If you have not ate at Tsuruhashi Fugetsu, then you have not ate a true okonomiyaki, an Osaka specialty! Perhaps the most popular and the biggest okonomiyaki chain in the city, Fugetsu delivers the ultimate okonomiyaki experience. Simply put, okonomiyaki is a type of Japanese pancake of various ingredients made on a grill, and Fugetsu does a stellar job presenting it starting from its preparation. Once you place your order on what ingredients you want in your oknomiyaki like octopus or pork, the waiting staff will bring out a batter mix with lettuce to cook on the grill in front of you. After a while, the batter begins to form into a pancake, but prior to that, the waiting staff will return to add the ingredients. Finally, the staff will add the finishing touch with its signature sauce! The entire process takes 15 – 20 minutes so you may have to order yakisoba(Noodle on grill) if you are dying of hunger, but the wait is totally worth it. You can even«upgrade» your okonomiyaki to have yakisoba on the top! With or without the upgrade, the okonomiyaki is so massive that it will fill up an average person. The best part is that it’s so good! Only then did I truly appreciate the deliciousness of okonomiyaki. This Shinsekai branch serves the same exact thing as the other branches, but this branch has larger facilities and much shorter wait. If you are in the Shinsekai area, start your dinner here so you don’t spend too much money on the more expensive kushikatsu! — tl;dr version: 1) Best okonomiyaki ever! 2) Shinsekai branch is bigger and has shorter wait
