It’s so hard for me to review places in Japan because I don’t really have anything to compare it to. I mean, I’m from Hawaii and we have some amazing Japanese food there but a lot of it can’t compare to Japanese food in Japan so I’m afraid it will take a little while for my reviews to be very useful, as far as taste goes: p That being said, I thought Udonya Kisuke was pretty good. The hours I see on Unilocal at the moment are wrong though so I’ll see if I can update that in a bit. But according to a sign they had posted, they are open from 12:00(noon) until 9:00 at night. They are closed every Tuesday and the last Monday of the month. Okay back to the food itself– I ate here today with my host parents before heading to the bus station to head back to Shikoku. I got the tempura udon-which had a shrimp tempura and a gobo tempura– for 900¥. In my understanding of Japanese food in Japan, that’s not cheap but not expensive also– it’s average I suppose. The broth was piping hot when they brought our udon over. The winning factor for Kisuke is the broth. Their broth was pretty good and filled with flavor– especially for a broth that’s so clear. I hate it when the broth is murky. It makes you wonder what’s in it. The only problem I had with the taste was that the udon didn’t seem to absorb very much of the broths flavor very quickly. The first few bites I took seemed pretty bland, but that’s probably because it didn’t have much time to soak in the broth because by the time I was half-way through, it was perfect. If you decide to come for lunch on a weekend, try to come early. We got there about 1:30. Shortly after we ordered, we noticed a line of paper waiting outside.
