Kashiwaya is a quick and fast soba hole-in-a-wall shop right outside Setagaya train line. However, instead for a cheap bowl of soba, I am always there for their imagawayaki. Part of the soba shop is a corner that sells imagawayakis so good that there’s a local following. What are imagawayakis, you ask? Well, they’re rounded-shaped Japanese waffles filled with red bean paste. That is the most popular flavour and the only ones I eat there but they also have custard flavour and cream cheese flavour. Their imagawayaki is so popular that I think they’ve recently expanded the kitchen with more waffle grillers. On Wednesdays and Sundays, the waffle base has tapioka added leaving it white and chewy! Hurry and queue up for one, I guarantee it will make your day. Oh yeah, I forgot tell you, they only cost 80yen each!
