If you are looking for a café in the Shibuya area with free wifi, multiple outlets, good coffee /tea, and English menus, Fab Café is a great option. However, Fab Café is not your ordinary café. It’s a hub for lots of creatives, offering rentals, workshops, classes for recent new fabrication technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, etc. Fab café is tied with Loft Works( ) located in the above floors of the same building, and many of the events they host are extremely interesting /helpful. Machine uses are a bit pricey in my opinion, but the staff are very accommodating and it’s a fantastic place to get the necessary introductory experience on any fab technique in a casual manner. There’s a laser cutter dedicated to food which I thought was pretty unique and useful for people that are into the art of cooking. They also offer something called«Open Fab Nights» where they invite customers to bring projects to work on, discuss, and try fabricating for free. I’ve experienced the 3Doodler pen, attended workshops to learn Rhino, and had a chance to be a guest speaker for their Fab Meetup; a meetup they offer for creatives. All have been a wonderful experiences and many people I’ve encountered here are bilingual /international types in the creative field. I’m not an avid coffee drinker so I love that they have great tea options! I usually get the Earl Grey Tea with the additional milk foam option — perfection! I like this particular drink so much I do take outs of it all the time. I wish they had options for larger sizes, the cup is pretty small and my delicious experience ends pretty quick. For take outs there’s a stamp card and every forth drink becomes free! The busy atmosphere makes it a little hard to concentrate at times. The constant fabrication machines working hard, fan noises, workshops, etc. along with the café being crowded most of the time, It’s not a very relaxing place to be. Fab Café is an overall fun work space that contributes greatly to the creative community. I hear they’ve got plans to open a New York branch, so I’m looking forward to how that turns out!
