LOL. I knew there were Denny’s in Tokyo so of course I had to go and see what it was like. I had to say after 5 days of Japanese food a little respite of good ol gut-busting American diner food was welcome. BUT you must know, deep-fried goodness seekers, that the menu is a Japanese one! So no fish and chips(or ‘Fish Plate’ as it was called when i was a child and would order at 6 in the morning on fishing trips with my dad HAHAHA), Grand Slam breakfast… no!!! And I don’t think you can go there and eat free on your birthday like in the US. My dad was so cheap he would take my stepmother there on her birthday… which made me happy. :OP But I was surprised that while uninspiring and certainly not at the top of the list of my favorite culinary experiences, everything was surprisingly fresh and good. I ordered a noodle soup that had lots of algae, carrots, mushrooms, some tomato, other stuff. Certainly the broth was industrial but whatever. It came with a little salad. I am pretty much afraid to eat meat at a Denny’s so I went vegetarian. Also, I was with a friend who has a little 1 year old in a stroller, and in fact part of the reason we chose Denny’s was because it is one of the few places navigable with a stroller. I could not see us entering into an izakaya with a stroller! So word to parents of little kids, Denny’s is a good bet in Tokyo.
