Very average food. The lunch thali for vegetarians comes with a tomato soup(aka diluted ketchup), cabbage salad, roti, a prepackaged vegetable curry and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We were craving Indian food in Japan so this place didn’t seem very bad and hence the 3 stars. On an average day, I’d give it 2 stars.

Tangdi kabab, saambhar, white rice, rasam, chicken dum biriyani… These are the things I’ve had here. And these were awesome! The staff is friendly and very accommodating, ask them how you ‘d like your food prepared to taste and they make it perfect! They actually recognized me after the first visit. Love it! If you’re around Shinjuku, don’t miss this one, you won’t regret!

Ashoka is perhaps the best Indian restaurant I have ever dined at. yeah and its in Tokyo. The food is unbelievable good, Simply prepared but oh so tasty good. We had the most delightful veggie pakora(with the absolute best mint sauce), an unbelievable naan and a great stuffed nan, great saffron mushroom rice, lovely lamb masala(rich and thick sauce with nice flavor), Chicken Keema(pieces of chicken cooked in a buttery curry sauce), and finally Palak Paneer(Spinach and home made cottage cheese cooked with spice). The owner and the help are simply awesome people. Wonderful warm and super friendly… and they actually speak English!!! Bonus I really loved this place it is in the lower level of the Hilton Hotel named Hiltopia. If you get tired of all the Noodles, Sushi, Yakatori and such… Check out Ashoka it is a really good restaurant
