So this was my second sukiyaki experience in Tokyo and while they both we good, this was my favorite. The flavor of the beef was magnificent. I would definitely return.

5 stars all the way. Located down an underground corridor under the Hyatt Regency in Shinjuku, this gem may or may not be so hidden, but I’m so glad that my Japanese colleague led us there for lunch. To start, the atmosphere and service were both top notch. They staff was very friendly in explaining all of the options. Although they serve both shabushabu and sukiyaki, and various bento versions for lunch, they are best known for sukiyaki, so we opted for that menu where the food is all cooked table-side. The main courses of sukiyaki consist of beautifully cooked thin slices of beef(and later various vegetables and tofu) served in a dish of raw egg. If you are squeamish about eating egg in that way, then sukiyaki is NOT for you. I, however, cannot resist a runny egg in any form, so I was in heaven. Our meal started with a small appetizer of a small square of asparagus gelatin and a tangy salad. Then came several courses of sukiyaki, each slightly different. First, just the beef in the egg, followed by beef and tofu, tofu and vegetables, and so on, until we finally ended with a tiny omelette. Dessert was the choice of cherry or like sorbet, a square of coffee gelatin, and a tiny matcha marshmallow with a chocolate center. This was by far my best meal in Tokyo. If you’re looking for quality and an authentic experience, then Imahan is for you.
