4 stars for the Okonomiyaki and the everything salad(with tuna, egg, lots of mayo, etc). 2 stars for the Monjayaki, Yakisoba and drinks. It’s still a great experience to take visitors here, especially those who have never tried okonomiyaki before, because you get to see exactly what goes into the food since they show you how to cook it on the grill yourself, but the quality of food is average. If I had more time here I would look for a better okonomiyaki place to take first-time visitors to Japan in future. Note: They force you to order 1 drink per person here and all the drinks are watery.

Ok… so this was the first time ever getting okonomiyaki so I have absolutely nothing to compare it to but I’m hooked!!! We had to seat ourselves and ask for an English menu. It was still really hard to read as the English menu didn’t translate well. We ordered a pork Okonomiyaki and a kimchi Monjayaki. There were two girls sitting next to us who knew very little English but they tried their best to explain to us how to cook our meal. The okonomiyaki came out in a bowl. We had to mix it all together. After greasing up our griddle we placed the heaping bowl of deliciousness on to cook. You wait until it’s all crispy on that side, then flip it over. After it’s to the desired crispiness, you add what I think was a barbeque sauce, mayo, seaweed, and dried tuna. Omg!!! We didn’t mix it too well and had some issues flipping it, so visually, not the best looking, but it was so yummy!!! Nice and crispy, while very fluffy on the inside. The toppings really tie the flavors together. Once, we finished that we moved to the Monjayaki. We greased the griddle again and then threw the veggies on. The girls told us we needed to keep cutting the ingredients with the spatula we were given. They kept giggling at us because I’m sure we looked like major amateurs. Anyways, you let that cook until they cabbage softens a little. then you make a little hole in the middle and add a little of the liquid from the bowl… then you mix it all together. You repeat this step until the liquid is gone, maybe 4 – 5 times. Then you spread the mixture out thinly on the griddle and you have a little spatula that you take your bites with. I personally like this a little crispy or burnt, so I like it better at the end once it had been on the griddle longer. It’s a totally different texture from the okonomiyako. I’m not sure which I prefer. They were book so good!!! It was a really fun experience, haha! I’m glad we had some girls helping us otherwise who knows what would have happened! I’ve already researched some places locally and cannot wait to go and compare it to my experience in Japan. I’m sure the staff there would help if you needed it but I would definitely recommend going if you are in the area! Hopefully reading my review will help you if you are newbie! :)

Since my brother and his wife were raving about Okonomiyaki, which is a thick pancake filled with vegetable and meat or seafood. We tried three different kinds: kimchi, squid, and shrimp. You had to pan fry them in front of you. We weren’t sure when they were done. It took longer than what they told us. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed. It was very doughy /pancake-y and lacked flavor. I’d rather have a Korean Seafood Pancake!
