This izakaya is absolutely my #1 izakaya, the best I’ve ever been to. If friends or family come to visit me in Yokohama, I will definitely take them here. Maybe three nights in a row if they can’t resist, which I don’t mind at all. Why? The answer is easy. «Daidokonjo Hormone» is the most local izakaya you could ever find in Yokohama. They use local vegetables, meat and even beer. You can see the pictures of local farmers who grew the veggies on the wall. Everything is from Kanagawa prefecture, where Yokohama is located. The taste of «horumon»(meat organs) explains how words are useless sometimes. You must taste this in order to understand. It is heavenly. We know izakayas are everywhere in Japan. Nowadays you can find them in other countries. I was a regular at an izakaya in Hawaii. The concept of an izakaya isn’t anything new. However, once you enter«Daidokonjo Horumon,» you are suddenly thrust into a new, magical izakaya experience. The owner is super colorful and happy to help find the best dish for you. We spent 2 and a half hours here, drinking and eating until we became full. The bill came to 2700 yen each(for a group of five). Isn’t that crazy? It was definitely the best 2700 yen I’ve ever spent. Try their famous«Daidokonjo Salad» to share with your favorite people. This goodie is quite big. All of the meat dishes are good but they have a course for just 1500 yen, which is a sizable amount of food. We ordered two of those and it was just right. Although their speciality is meat, their veggies are more famous than their main dishes. If you’re in Yokohama, definitely give it a shot. You’ll thank me.
