I passed by Earth House numerous times on my walk to Shioiri station, but never thought to peek in. The name and outer décor make it appear like a hippie coffee shop, however, after discovering it, I find it to be one of the best restaurants in the Honch-o district. The food is made to order, so it takes some time. While it may take up to thirty minutes for the amazing french onion soup, it’s 100% worth the wait. The husband/wife team(owners) will take care to fill your wine(reasonably priced bottles… About 2700¥) while you wait. The menu includes some«hard to finds» US cravings like chili cheese fries, tacos, and taco rice. The menu also includes cheese, pizzas, pastas, Japanese style omelettes, and some really awesome garlic fries with the rich mayo/ketchup dip combo that those living in Japan now crave. Cash ¥ only. Small, but very clean and nicely decorated interior. Gets smokey, but hey… That’s Japan. Across from main gate on route 16.
